No matter the situation, there is usually a silver lining that can be seen. Even during this ridiculous year of 2020, there are still some wonderful and cute stories that deserve a listen, especially in the animal kingdom! While animals are still being affected by the COVID-19 crisis, they are impacted in a different way.
While most animals aren’t currently suffering from the virus, they are suffering from the impact of it.
Most large gathering places have closed as a result of the coronavirus. Gathering in large groups with a transmissible virus doesn’t seem the best thing to do at the moment. Due to these circumstances, aquariums, zoos, and a litany of other places have closed their doors to the public. This change has an impact on the animals that live there!
Animals are getting some special attention during the downtime.
Spending all of their lives on display for people, these creatures are now enjoying a different quality of life with nobody coming in to watch them! One of the best examples can be seen at the Australian Reptile Park.
Hope and Elsa are best friends – they are just different species!
In something that could be from a movie, the two began their friendship in a unique way. When the park keepers went to clean out Hope’s (the wombat) enclosure, they put her in the Elsa’s (the koala) area. With the two being in the same enclosure for a bit of time, they immediately hit it off.
“Elsa and Hope were seen interacting frequently,” a park spokesperson told Insider. “Keepers would watch on in awe as the pair bonded and greeted each other with a daily Eskimo nose kiss! It didn’t take long for them to become the best of friends!”
While they are different species, the staff isn’t very surprised.
The park staff said that the two are pretty closely related species and it makes sense they get along. Even more than that, they both were raised in the park and have a similar background, being hand-raised. The two had a “really rough start to life” but it seems like their past has allowed them to connect.
As Australia recovers from devastating wildfires, this little friendship is a bright piece of hope for the nation.
The Australian wildlife population was decimated as fire swept through, killing millions of creatures in its wake. As people recover from the effects of the fires, it is a point of joy to see these two creatures and their little friendship. The mark of innocence in a time of devastation is a cool drop of water on a singed land.
The two now spend quite a bit of time together.
It is super cute to see the little friends interact and spend their days together.
