On September 8th, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96. It’s indeed a piece of sad news that broke the hearts of many. Aside from her family, she also left behind her beloved dogs – two corgis named Muick and Sandy, a dorgi (a Corgi-Dachshund mix) named Candy, and a cocker spaniel named after the Queen, “Lissy”.

It’s not new to us that Her Majesty loves dogs, in fact, we always see them next to the Queen even on special occasions. Her dogs are also family members and there’s no denying that Queen Elizabeth treats them like royalties just like her.

As loyal as the royal guards of Her Majesty, her dogs didn’t leave her side and stayed loyal to her up to the very end.

Turns out, the Queen’s dogs will be in good hands and will be treated with utmost care just like what she did to them. Thankfully, the Duke of York – Prince Andrew- and his ex-wife Duchess of York- Sarah Ferguson stepped in to adopt the corgis Muick, Sandy, and Candy. They decided to bring the loyal pooches to the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Although they are already divorced, they still live in the same home, and most importantly, they both love corgis.

Muick and Sandy were given to the Queen as a gift by Prince Andrew last year after the passing of Prince Phillip. The adorable dogs were always treated like royalties, in fact, even the Queen herself used to prepare the dogs’ meals.

The royal family and their love for dogs.

According to Daily Mail UK, Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice, his eldest daughter, have been walking the Queen’s dogs for the past few months.

On the other hand, Duchess Sarah just recently reached out to the Queen and on a Twitter post, she shared her thoughts about the Queen’s death. She wrote in a Tweet, “I am heartbroken by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: the most fantastic example of duty and service and steadfastness, and a constant steadying presence as our head of state for more than 70 years.”

In another Tweet, she added, “I will miss her more than words can express.”

Her Majesty and Duchess Sarah’s common denominator is their love for dogs and horses. This similarity that they have was the reason why the two became really close to each other. They enjoyed sharing their time for animals and Duchess Sarah can still remember the lovely conversations that she had with the Queen as they walked their dogs.

In another Tweet, Duchess Sarah wrote, “To me, she was the most incredible mother-in-law and friend. I will always be grateful to her for the generosity she showed me in remaining close to me even after my divorce.”

Lissy, on the other hand, is currently with her trainer and the royal family hasn’t decided yet as to who will adopt the adorable dog of the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth is not just an epitome of elegance but also of kindness. She lived her entire life loving dogs and she didn’t shy away from letting the whole world know how deeply she adored them.
