Well, that’s just about as cute as it gets. <3

Puppies can be a lot like children, needing to run around and play to get all their energy out. But also like kids – it’s nice when they have some buddies to hang out with while doing so.

Emily Buchenberger is the pet mom to a sweet-looking Golden Retriever named Billie. When she began attending a local “puppy play hour” with her pooch, she soon realized something quite adorable was going on between Billie and some of the others.

Dogs are social creatures that enjoy letting loose with their own kind. But even if you don’t have multiple canines, there are dog parks and special facilities that offer programs for socialization.

Buchenberger, who’s an Atlanta resident, decided to take four-month-old Billie to a playgroup for pups between eight and 18 weeks. While there, the Golden could roam freely – playing, exercising, and meeting new friends in a big open room.

There were more than a dozen pooches for Billie to meet and run around with at the facility. But instead of spending time with them all, she started to gravitate towards a select group.

Buchenberger noticed that her pup was hanging out with the other Golden Retrievers that were part of the play hour. Not only that, it seemed like they were quickly becoming buds!

She told The Dodo:

“The goldens have similar play styles so they immediately clicked. There might as well not have been the other 15 puppies at puppy hour because the goldens were attached to each other like glue.”

Golden Retrievers are known for being sweet and loyal dogs that make wonderful family pets. They’re also a high-energy breed, according to the Totally Goldens website.

In addition to Billie spending time exclusively with her friends, Buchenberger also took notice of their behavior together. Although they had plenty of room to go wild and there was equipment they could play on – the Golden group preferred to do it differently.

Buchenberger explained to The Dodo:

“Most puppies ran around or jumped onto the objects, but not the goldens. They almost exclusively played with each other underneath the objects in secrecy.”

One day, Billie and her friends hid under a blue plastic bridge together. Adorably, only their tails were sticking out.

But what exactly were they doing under there? Were they conducting a secret meeting, playing a quiet game, or perhaps sharing a treat one of them had snuck in?

Buchenberger and other owners in the group decided to find out. She flipped on her camera while another pet dad lifted the bridge to expose what they were up to.

What everyone saw was beyond the cutest thing ever. All three pups had their front paws intertwined as if they were “holding hands.”

After realizing they’d been “caught,” the puppies all got up and began to move about. But according to Billie’s owner, it didn’t take long before they were all crawling back under the bridge to meet again! Now, those are some good friends.

Buchenberger explained to the animal publication that Billie enjoys crawling under furniture at home, particularly with something she loves (like a bone). But during playtime, apparently, it’s her friends she loves to hunker down with.

Watch the video below to see these precious pups get caught “holding paws.” How sweet is that?
