Every now and then, an animal will bring out some musician skills that are so brilliant that the moment has to be documented. Since the age of phone cameras first began, we’ve seen dogs who can play an instrument, cats who can meow a tune, and even a singing donkey!

We have to admit, the singing animals tend to be our favorite, especially when they have lots of enthusiasm, but not much talent to go with it. So when we came across a video of a dog who can sing opera, we knew straight away that it was going to be brilliant. And while we wouldn’t say that the dog is the greatest singer that we’ve heard, he makes up for it with sheer enthusiasm.

The moment an opera-loving dog named Hugo began to join in with the singing on the TV, his owner picked up their camera straight away and began to record. The hilarious video was then shared onto YouTube by BestDogsLifeUK, and since being posted has received over 38 thousand views, as well as thousands of likes and comments.

The caption explains, “Hugo’s passion is listening and singing to opera. As soon as he hears the music he stops what he is doing. The three tenors are his favourite singers especially Pavarotti,” and we don’t think we’ve ever come across such a sophisticated Golden Retriever before. It is clear that the dog has a huge passion for the music, as the sound of it is enough to interrupt him from his nap.

The video starts as the Three Tenors begin their song, “O Sole Mio.” This is a classic opera song, and is pretty popular with lovers of this particular kind of music. An opera-lover himself, it doesn’t take Hugo long to wake from his nap as he hears the beginning chords of his favorite music.

Hugo sits patiently and listens to the music in silence- that’s until the chorus arrives. As the singers hit the impressive high notes of the chorus, Hugo gives his own contribution, by adding his own gruff howling to the song. All in all, he’s a little tuneless, but we think he is a great addition to the Three Tenors!

The song continues on, and so does Hugo’s singing. He sits and waits patiently while the verses play, and then each time the chorus arrives, the charismatic dog can’t help but join in. It’s one of the most entertaining videos we’ve seen in a long time!

People took to the comments to express their love for the video, with one person saying, “Dear God, Without our pets this life on earth would be so much more bland and difficult! Thank you for blessing us and enriching our lives with these beautiful moments!” Another added, “Love how he waits, listens and decides to join in at the right moment. He’s a star!”

A final person said, “Tickles my funny bone how he sings so well. He truly thinks he is the 4th tenor. Though his voice is a bit deeper.”

Despite the difference in voices, we think that Hugo would make a great 4th Tenor! Watch the hilarious video below to decide for yourself.
