Haseya wasn’t interested in being “rescued” by some bored humans with savior complexes.

She was perfectly fine with her life as an outlaw.

But these people just wouldn’t quit harassing her. Still, she continually evaded and outsmarted them with her canine brilliance.

But life in the dusty desert wasn’t easy.

Having these humans who desperately wanted to do all the footwork for her while she lived in luxury and ease began to seem like more of a sweet deal.

So, she eventually decided that she would allow herself to be rescued. On her own terms. When she decided that was ready.

It’s not like she was forcing someone to get her out of there.

This dude Zach was basically stalking her.

Zach came across Haseya when he was fueling up his car in the Grand Canyon.

He saw how roughed up was and still decided to go after her after learning that local law enforcement had trying to capture her for over three months.

“She was very skittish like had been there for a while and was not going to let someone just grab her,” Zach recalls. “So, I came back that night and basically was like I’m just gonna stake out here until I see her again. I didn’t know how difficut she was going to be to catch.”

First, he tried to wait for her in the same area she had been seen in for the last four days.

But she was too smart for that and didn’t show up.

Then he busted out his drone and finally spotted her after an hour. Zach then tried to lure the dog in a multitude of ways, which all failed miserably.

“She was just so smart she was not going to allow herself to get caught. She was circling the cage for a few minutes. It’s like she knew the trap was under the carpet.”

Eventually, Haseya grew tired of the foolish charade and walked herself into the “trap,” accepting the new life that awaited her.

“She knew a little bit, she was like ‘I can’t do this anymore. I’m just gonna take the risk,'” Zach recalled. “She laid down and was kind of at peace with it.”

Haseya then was taken on a 26-hour long car ride to Minnesota. She’d never been in a car before, but she did well with the long ride.

Meanwhile, Zach was hoping Haseya would get along with his two cats and his dog.

Those worries turned out to be unfounded. Haseya immediately hit it off with everyone in the house.

“It was just clearly a testament to who she is and her heart and her loving side,” Zach said.

Everyone in that house is pretty much best buddies now.

And now Haseya isn’t fending for herself and roaming around the dusty desert alone. So, it was a risk well taken.

“Every single step, I’m like so thankful,” said Zach.
