Brave Kitten Siblings Fight Their Way Out Of Taped Box

In June 2019, a couple named Nina and Anthony were on their way to the dentist when they noticed a taped box on the side of the road.

Suspicious, the couple went to investigate. When they got out of their car, they saw a kitten’s head pop out of the box. They also saw another kitten standing behind a garbage can.

Nina and Anthony immediately ran over to the box and ripped the tape off. Since it had rained hard the night before, the cardboard was flimsy. The couple guessed that the kitten by the garbage can had escaped the box, but the other one hadn’t been able to get out.

Nina and Anthony put the two kittens in their car. Then, they decided to check the area and make sure there weren’t any other kitten escapees.

This ended up being a smart plan—the couple found one more Calico kitten wandering around. The couple put the third kitten in their car and quickly drove the cats to the nearest shelter. The shelter gave the cats food and water and confirmed that they were healthy. Unfortunately, though, they didn’t have space for the kittens.

Nina and Anthony brought the kittens home with them and gave them more food and water. Nina was allergic to cats, and so she couldn’t keep the kittens herself. She was determined to find a good home for them, though, so she posted about the cats on her Facebook page.

A local cat rescuer named Dani the Cat Lady saw the post and offered to take the kittens in.

That night, the kittens arrived at Dani’s home. She weighed the kittens and found that they were very underweight.

“These kittens are SEVERELY underweight. They are about 4 weeks old and only weight 9.1,9.1, and 9.6 ounces. That’s about as much as a two week old kitten, so they went sometime without their mom and food.”

So yesterday afternoon I was contacted about 3 kittens that were duct taped in a box and left for dead on the side of the road. Yes you heard that right TAPED IN A BOX. Thankfully Nina and Anthony noticed the box and went to investigate, and even went a step further to check the surrounding areas for more. Good thing they did too, because one had escaped and made it quite a ways away. Kitten season sometimes shows the nastier side of people, why you would resort to something like this, I’ll never know, but the good news is the kittens are safe now. @rumballamy transported them to me late last night where we bathed them, and I gave them SubQ, B12 and a good meal. The kittens are doing great in their new foster home!

They’re growing quickly, and they’re also getting along with Dani’s other foster kittens. These sweet kittens are on the road to recovery.

Soon after taking in the kittens who were abandoned in the box, Dani rescued another group of kitten siblings. These six cats were struggling to fend for themselves on the streets, but they now have a great place to call home!

Dani, Nina, and Anthony all did a great job at helping out a group of kittens who had no one else in the world. If you want to see more photos of the kittens and Dani’s other cats, check out her Instagram page.
