Leo is a sweet Goldendoodle who loves two things more than anything in the world: his family and a brown stuffed animal toy!
Since he was a puppy, Leo has taken the toy with him everywhere he goes. One day, Leo was chewing the toy as usual when it suddenly ripped and stuffing started falling out. Poor Leo was devastated by his loss.
“It is his favorite toy,” Leo’s human sister, Hayley Alaxanian, told The Dodo.
Leo’s dad didn’t want Leo to choke on the stuffing, so he took the toy and put it on a high shelf. Leo immediately started crying—he wanted his toy back so badly. When Leo’s dad saw what the toy meant to him, he knew he had to fix it for his pup.
“[My dad] took the toy away from him and put it away so he couldn’t reach it, but he was crying and trying to reach for it,” Hayley said. “That’s when my dad decided to get his sewing kit out and started sewing it back together.”
Leo’s dad sat down on the couch with the toy and the sewing kit and began performing some lifesaving surgery. Leo sat by his side, watching intently as his dad carefully sewed his toy back together. At one point, he nudged his dad with his nose—it was his way of giving him encouragement.
Hayley was amazed by her dad’s sewing skills—she said it was the first time she’d ever seen him sew before.
“My father loves his dogs. This video of my dad and Leo sewing his favorite toy back together has to be the purest thing I have ever seen,” Hayley told The Daily Mail.
After a few tense minutes, the procedure was finished. Leo’s dad handed the toy back to his pup, and he gleefully threw it in the air. He also showed it to his Labrador Retriever brother Rowan, who was very excited for him.
Hayley shared a video of the surgery to her Facebook page, and it quickly went viral. Everyone loved seeing how much Hayley’s dad adored his pup.
“It is the sweetest thing ever,” Hayley said.
