“Demonic” rescue dog who hates everyone gets 100’s of applications

April 21st, 2021

Every once in a while, we’ll come across a plea from an animal shelter about one of their rescued animals that desperately tugs at our heartstrings. Usually, in order to find the perfect home for a cat or dog, a rescue will write an adoption ad highlighting all the pet’s best features.

But one woman found herself in a bit of a dilemma: what happens if a pet has no redeeming qualities whatsoever?

After months of trying to write an ad that made this “Chucky doll in a dog’s body” sound more appealing to families, Tyfanee realized that she needed to try to approach the problem a little… differently.

So, she decided to buck the trend, writing the most brutally honest adoption ad in dog rescue history.

“I’ve tried for the last several months to post this dog for adoption and make him sound…palatable. The problem is, he’s just not,” Tyfanee’s post begins. Right from the first line, you know that this is no ordinary adoption ad.

Get ready to meet Prancer, the “demonic” chihuahua who will make all your nightmares come true.

“There’s not a very big market for neurotic, man hating, animal hating, children hating dogs that look like gremlins. But I have to believe there’s someone out there for Prancer, because I am tired and so is my family,” Tyfanee wrote.

Her post was so darkly hilarious that something unexpected happened.

Just 10 days later, the adoption ad had been shared more than 72,000 times.

“Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home. If you own a Chihuahua you probably know what I’m talking about. He’s literally the Chihuahua meme that describes them as being 50% hate and 50% tremble. If you’re intrigued and horrified at how this animal sounds already, just wait….there’s more,” Tyfanee continues.

Tyfanee also gives us a bit of an idea of what Prancer’s background was like and what state he came to her in:

“Prancer came to me obese, wearing a cashmere sweater, with a bacon egg n cheese stuffed in his crate with him. I should have known in that moment this dog would be a problem…”

Tyfanee says that the first few weeks with Prancer were deceptively easy.

He was reserved and didn’t bother anyone, he just lay on the couch. But she was horrified when the “13lb rage machine” began to come out of his shell.

“I am convinced at this point he is not a real dog, but more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child that now haunts our home.”

Okay, so what about Prancer’s likes and dislikes?

Well, according to his foster mom, he hates almost everything.

“Prancer only likes women. Nothing else. He hates men more than women do, which says a lot. If you have a husband don’t bother applying, unless you hate him. Prancer has lived with a man for 6 months and still has not accepted him… Have other dogs? Cats? Don’t apply unless they like being shaken up like a ragdoll by a 13lb rage machine… We also mentioned no kids for Prancer. I think at this point, you can imagine why.”

So, no men, no other pets, and no children.

And if you have people over, he’ll “have to be put away like he’s a vacuum.” Nevertheless, Tyfanee’s scathing review of Prancer had made its way over to Twitter, where it received 300,000 more likes and thousands of replies…

Not bad for a dog who had previously had no interest from adopters for months!

Since the post went viral, Second Chance Pet Adoption League (where Prancer came from) has been inundated with hundreds of emails from potential adopters. In fact, answering all the inquiries has become a full-time job!

It’s clear that, although Prancer hates almost everybody, the internet loves him.

There really is a home for every dog, after all. Even demonic chihuahuas.
