This Golden Retriever has a new human to love and protect. Buttercup finds herself drawn to the tiny human on her back, who’s just looking up at her with eager eyes while she sucks on her thumb.

Buttercup is all ears. She’s got her full attention and this dog won’t ever remove her gaze from this little girl.

There is a mysterious bond between babies and dogs us adults will never understand.

How can we when we’ve already been corrupted by the world.

Dogs and babies are so pure and so innocent it wouldn’t be surprising if there’s some sort of out of this world language only they speak.

Mom Carrie Bradshaw can only watch and marvel at the bond her baby girl has with her golden Buttercup.

There’s a story being told here and only those with their minds open will see.

Looks like baby Bradshaw is narrating her epic quest of how she discovered her thumb. She’s really proud too. The dog, ever patient, stays by her side listening intently to the little one’s story.

It’s not just her thumb though as she seems to be trying to eat her whole fist.

That’s a really cute fist and I’m sure mom’s bitten them many times herself.

But while this adorable baby is telling Buttercup her story, the dog yawns as if waiting for the baby to get to the good parts. Come on, Buttercup!

Mom made a great choice getting Buttercup. Golden Retrievers are excellent family dogs. They are super friendly, tolerant, smart, and are wonderful with kids. In fact, they are one of the most popular breeds in the country.

Dogtime has more about this breed.

“The Golden is slow to mature and retains the silly, playful personality of a puppy until three to four years of age, which can be both delightful and annoying. Many keep their puppyish traits into old age. The Golden Retriever is a family dog, and he needs to be with his “pack.” Don’t consider getting a Golden unless you’re willing to have him in the house with you, underfoot, every day.”

This part is the best.

“There’s one other potential drawback to the breed: He’s definitely not a watchdog. He might bark when strangers come around, but don’t count on it. Most likely, he’ll wag his tail and flash that characteristic Golden smile.”

So will Buttercup protect her family from unwanted intruders? She’ll probably bark and let her humans do the work.

Dogs are social creatures and with their intelligence, seem to know what a human baby is. They act differently towards them!

There’s just a little bit more care when there’s a baby. Dogs seem more gentle around them. And with that pack mentality, they recognize that their human family is theirs as well. Which means protecting the young.

Baby Bradshaw is in good paws then. Buttercup’s going to be by her side all the time. Go on and tell your furry friend about your milestones, little one!
