Looking after animals is a whole lot of work! Not only do zoo workers and animal caretakers have to provide food, water, and shelter for their furry friends, but they also have to check up on them regularly, ensuring that they’re developing properly, eating right, and not suffering from any health issues.

Animals can’t really tell us when they’re not feeling well, so we have to do what we can to figure it out on our own, and one of the simplest weighs to monitor an animal’s health is to weigh it. Zoo animals and other animals around the world are weighed on a regular basis by their owners, but if you’ve ever tried weighing your own pets at home, you’ll know it isn’t always easy!

Trying to get a dog or a cat to sit still on a set of scales can almost feel impossible, so imagine what it must be like doing the same thing with a tiger cub, a koala bear, or a giraffe!
