Men find 3 puppies ‘disposed of like trash’ and give them a chance to live
In the puppies' short lives they had already gone through unspeakable terrors.

It was a matter of days, if not hours, for three puppies on the brink of death. The sick, starving babies had been discarded like the trash into a dumpster full of garbage near a pond in the freezing rain.

The trio of pups, like the hundreds of thousands of stray dogs who turn up on the streets every year in the United States faced a daunting future. Some are plucked up off the street and transferred to a shelter; others aren’t so lucky.

Two Georgia Power linemen discovered the filthy puppies, their ribs jutting out from their bloated bellies. Frightened and confused, the puppies ran from a man who tried to previously rescue them.

“These puppies have gone through enough terror in their short lives.”

Shane Porter’s co-worker David was headed to his truck to hop in and head back to their workshop to grab some material when he saw two puppies dash out into the road.

They were very skittish, so the men lured the puppies over to them with a Slim Jim meat stick and a can of Vienna sausages.

“As I got my hands on this one, a gentleman showed up behind us with this one in his hands wrapped up in a jacket and said he had just pulled all three of them out of a dumpster around the pond over there.”

The two little girls and a boy were delivered to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia where they were bathed, medicated, fed and loved. On the ride there, the puppies curled up at the worker’s feet in the floorboard.

“When we picked them up, we knew it was the right thing to do.”

The humane society’s executive director Julie Edwards said the pups seem to be OK despite their traumatizing ordeal.
