Finding something you thought you had lost forever is an incredible feeling.
Especially when that something is someone you love very much.
That’s why watching this 10-year-old’s reunion with his missing dog is particularly heartwarming.
Back in January, Bruiser the pitbull got a little carried away.
He was chasing a rabbit and ran off from the Bandy family’s Polk County, Florida home.
And he didn’t come home. The family tried to lure him back by leaving a towel with a familiar scent outside their Fort Meade home but that didn’t work.
They also put up flyers offering a reward as well as lots of Facebook posts hoping someone would find their dog.
Bruiser’s family were “starting to lose hope” and beginning to think that they would never see their believed doggo again after weeks of searching.
Two long months had gone by before Bruiser was picked by up the county’s animal services department.
The sheriff’s office said that one of the employees in the animal services department thought that they recognized the dog and used Facebook to find the dog’s family.
The Bandys got a call from the Highlands County Animal Control exactly two months to the day their dog went missing telling them that they had Bruiser.
Jamie Bandy decided that she would surprise her 10-year-old son Tyler with Bruiser’s return to make their reunion extra special. Tyler had also just recently asked about Bruiser.
The family decided to get the reunion on video.
The video shows Tyler walking through the door with one of his other dogs while eating a lollipop.
Then his grey pitbull Bruiser comes running toward him and Tyler gasps out loud.
“Bruiser!” he says smiling as the dog jumps all over him.
He puts his lollipop down and drops to his knees to hug his dog who is covering him with kisses.
The sweet boy tears up as he nuzzles his dog’s head with his.
Tyler is overcome with emotion and just sits on the floor and cries even when the dog runs over to mom.
But Bruiser immediately comes right back to console Tyler who is still shedding tears of happiness.
The good dog sits still and just wags his tail as Tyler hugs him and cries.
Tyler smiles and just looks at his dog and continues to pet and hug him.
“When did you get him back?” he asks.
His mom tells him Thursday, which was March 4.
More than 74,000 people were moved by the love these two buddies have for each other and how grateful Tyler was to see his friend again.
“Love. Love at its purest. God bless you all, and I’m so glad your boy is back home!” wrote one YouTube commenter.
“I love how the dog just sits in his lap for all the love and cuddles!” said another.
“Dogs + Children = True love,” wrote another.
