Rex is an adorable, fluffy cat who loves going for walks around his block.

The cat spends his days roaming around his neighborhood in Missoula, Montana. At night, he always goes home to his owner Emily Crane.

Crane got Rex when he was a kitten, and he’s now about eight years old. Rex has always enjoyed roaming around his neighborhood—he loves attention, and he’ll often approach people and ask for head scratches.

“At a rather young age, he starting begging to go outside,” Crane told The Dodo. “I would let him out the back door and watch from my upstairs kitchen window.”

For years, Crane didn’t know what Rex got up to during the day. But then, she finally learned more about Rex’s life when he came home with a note attached to his collar.

“He pranced inside with it, like he knew that he had a delivery to make,” Crane said.

Crane unfolded the note and read it. When she saw what it said, she couldn’t stop laughing:

“Hello!” the note says. “This is your neighbor in the red house! We just wanted to let you know that Rex has developed a weird love for our bathtub + will sneak into our home to sit in it! All of us in the house are 100% okay with this because we all love Rex very much. We just want to let you know in case you were wondering where he was one of these days … he’s probably in our bathtub. <3 The Red House.”

Crane found this note hilarious—although she did have to wonder why Rex didn’t feel the same affinity for her bathtub as he did for her neighbor’s.

The next time Rex went out on one of his adventures, Crane attached a note to his collar thanking her neighbors in the red house for letting Rex use their tub. She hopes that she’ll meet these neighbors soon.

Crane is happy that she lives in a close-knit community where she can let her cat roam free. She loves hearing about Rex’s interaction with people in her neighborhood—she likes knowing that Rex brings a little joy to their day.

“I love how friendly Rex is with people,” Crane said. “If they are interested, I can tell it makes their day to give a pet to a handsome, social kitty cat.”
