You can see how the boat was racing alongside dolphins who were some distance away. This little trip was supposed to just be a lovely afternoon on the water. But the dolphins had other plans in mind.

The dolphins joined the fun and surprised the wakeboarding crew

Soon, dolphins start racing alongside the wakerboarder. Hopping and splashing out of the water as if they were an aquatic escort. The woman’s surprise comes through in a warm bright giggle that is shared by the boat captain in the shot.

The woman even points out how she’s surrounded as the playful dolphins leap and play with the woman. It might seem scary, but they never felt like they were in danger, since the dolphins were very careful to avoid bumping into the boat or the wakeboarder.

It almost seems crazy, but Wyatt Miller thinks of it as…

The crew move across the water while the cameraman rolls. The laughter dies down as they go with the flow and welcome their new dolphin friends. The man in the boat even says how insane the entire incident is, since you never expect some of nature’s smartest ocean dwellers to join them. It’s almost like a show you’d expect to see at Seaworld.

But how would you react if you were out there?

Well Wyatt Miller said this when he posted the video on YouTube:

“This was definitely one of the TOP 3 afternoons of my LIFE!!!”

It’s not so crazy when you learn that dolphins…

As amazing as this incident is, it’s not so uncommon. There are tons of stories about how dolphins come to human rescue or spend their time with humans. These stories may have even inspired classic dolphin shoes and films like “Flipper”. So why do dolphins act so friendly towards humans?

Well some animal researchers say that dolphins have a nomadic survivor lifestyle. They remain with their pods and take care of one another. So when they see someone, especially humans, on their own, they might view them as persons in need.

That might explain why the dolphins in Wyatt’s video were so friendly. Maybe they weren’t being friendly and playful but were actually secret guardians protecting the wakeboarder against possible water threats.

What do you think about this amazing video?

Wyatt’s video is just one of the most incredible examples of how closely connected humans are with dolphins. These intelligent and playful animals have their reasons for being drawn to humans. Maybe we won’t solve the mystery ourselves, but we can sit back and enjoy the fun on the water.
