In 2017, Kirill Georgiev was sitting in his office, working like normal. But then, his day took a surprising turn: a random stray kitten wandered into his office. And the kitten walked right up to Georgiev and jumped into his lap.
The kitten put her paw on Georgiev’s chest and looked into his eyes. Georgiev immediately fell in love with her, and it was clear she loved him too.
“That moment I decided, ‘This is the perfect opportunity to finally take care of someone,’” Georgiev told The Dodo.
The cat had clearly decided Georgiev was her new dad, and so he had no choice but to take her home with him! He named the sweet kitten Koshka—the Russian word for ‘cat.’
A year later, Koshka and Georgiev are still as happy as can be together.
Koshka runs the house. She’ll climb up on the roof, walk over paperwork, and generally do what she likes. Her dad is completely in love with her, and he’s happy to let her run the place!
Koshka also sometimes helps her dad with work. Here she is checking out what he’s doing on the computer.
In mid-July 2018, history repeated itself for Georgiev.
Georgiev went to leave his office one afternoon, and he found a stray puppy sitting in front of his car. Like Koshka, the puppy decided that Georgiev was her dad. The puppy was a bit dirty and hungry, but besides that, she was in good health. Georgiev named the sweet little dog Jessie and took her home with him.
“I had no other option,” Georgiev said. “Dogs seems to like me, so I’m taking care of her now.”
When he got home, Georgiev introduced Jessie to Koshka. Thankfully, the cat and puppy got along well.
Koshka quickly made sure Jessie knew she was the alpha female in the house. Once that was established, she was happy to play with the new puppy.
“The pup seemed to be curious, but a bit afraid of master cat,” Georgiev said.
Now, Koshka and Jessie have both settled in, and they’ve learned to share their chosen dad.
Georgiev is a kind man who can never turn away an animal in need. The strays in his city seem to realize this, and so they keep coming to him for help. We’re so glad that Koshka and Jessie have found such a great home with such a caring dad! If you’d like to see more photos of Georgiev and his pets, check out his Instagram page.
