Jax the Bernese Mountain Dog is a gentle pup who loves all creatures, big and small. Jax lives with his owner Shannon Apple in Parkville, Maryland. He shares the house with two other dogs and one much smaller creature: a gray squirrel named Wally!

Traditionally, dogs chase squirrels, but not Jax. Jax absolutely loves his little squirrel brother, and Wally loves him right back.

Even though Wally is an indoor squirrel, his natural instinct is still to bury his acorns when winter is approaching. And since Wally doesn’t have access to dirt, he has to get a bit creative about where he puts his acorns.

One day, Shannon noticed Wally digging in Jax’s fur. When she approached them, she saw Wally trying to hide an acorn in Jax’s thick black fur!

Shannon quickly grabbed her camera and shot a video of the hilarious scene. As patient and calm Jax laid on the floor, Wally tried his hardest to hide his acorn. But the acorn kept falling out of Jax’s fur, and so finally, Wally just decided to eat it!

Shannon shared the video on her YouTube page, and it quickly went viral, receiving more than 12 million views. Everyone loved watching Jax’s reaction to Wally!

After the first video of Jax and Wally became so popular, Shannon started sharing other cute videos of her two boys on her YouTube page. One adorable video shows Wally enjoying a snack on Jax’s back. Jax doesn’t seem to care that Wally is getting crumbs all over him!

Like all siblings, Jax and Wally bicker sometimes.

Usually, Wally instigates these fights—the squirrel can get a little rambunctious! But after a stern word from his mom, Wally always calm down and goes back to doing what he does best: hiding acorns in different parts of Jax’s fur.

Shannon also shares lots of photos of Wally and Jax on her Facebook page, including this adorable photo of Jax finding his look-alike stuffed animal.
