Meet Kyle: a unique rescue cat with a very distinctive set of whiskers!
Poor Kyle had a rough start to life.
Kyle was born in a house that already had 30 other cats. When Kyle was a few years old, he witnessed a domestic violence incident between his owners that ended fatally. Kyle and the 30 other cats were taken away and held in police custody as evidence. There wasn’t enough space for all the cats, but the police refused to let them go into a more suitable shelter.
Eventually, Kyle was transferred to a no-kill shelter. After going through so much trauma, the cat was naturally anxious around people.
One day, a woman named Jenn and her partner were looking through Petfinder, trying to find a companion for their other cat, Princess Mer. The couple stumbled across Kyle’s profile, and they immediately fell in love with the cat and his crazy whiskers. They went over to the shelter, where they learned that Kyle had hip dysplasia, missing teeth, and missing claws.
Jenn and her partner decided they still wanted to meet Kyle, and a volunteer brought him out.
Kyle was a bit nervous when he met Jenn, but he quickly began to relax. Soon, he started cuddling in Jenn’s lap, and just like that, she knew she wanted to take him home.
“When we arrived at the animal shelter a volunteer fetched Kyle from the back. What emerged was a hot mess… an adorable hot mess that we knew we had to take home,” Jenn wrote on Kyle’s website.
Jenn and her partner officially adopted Kyle, and they took him home with them. The sweet cat immediately settled into Jenn’s house. He got along well with Princess Mer, and he also always enjoyed hanging out with his human parents. Even though Kyle had gone through so much, he still loves people more than anything.
Jenn decided to set up an Instagram page for Kyle, where she shared photos of her cute cat with the world. The page quickly received over 73,000 followers—everyone loved Kyle and his adorable set of whiskers!
Jenn shares tons of cute photos and videos of Kyle, including this hilarious video where she wears a set of slippers that look just like Kyle. Kyle is completed unfazed by the slippers!
There are also plenty of adorable photos of Kyle and the family dog. The chill cat always loves hanging out on the couch with his favorite pup.
Jenn also uses Kyle’s page to raise awareness about how domestic violence incidents affect pets.
“Kyle is extremely passionate about raising awareness around how DV impacts pets and their families. Kyle hopes to prevent incidents like the one his former mommy suffered from by advocating for animal-friendly DV shelters that help victims feel comfortable escaping their situation,” Jenn wrote on Kyle’s Facebook page.
