One day, residents of a neighborhood in Udaipur, India started hearing the most heart-wrenching animal cries. When the residents followed the cries, they came across a shocking sight.
They found three tiny puppies completely encased in rock-solid tar.
The people who found the puppies quickly called animal rescue group Animal Aid Unlimited. Rescuers from the group immediately headed over to the area. They guessed that the puppies had been trapped in the tar for hours, and they were all terrified. One of the puppies continued crying, but the other two were silent. One of the puppies’ mouths was stuck open.
The rescuers immediately got to work rescuing the puppies. The puppies were so encased in the tar, the rescuers had to take the slabs of tar with them.
The rescuers carefully pulled up each piece of tar, making sure not to hurt the puppies. Finally, the rescuers had freed all three puppies from the ground.
Once the rescuers got back to Animal Aid Unlimited’s shelter, they began removing all the tar from the puppies.
The rescue group’s vets slathered the puppies in oil to make it easier to remove the tar. It took two hours for the tar to soften, and then the vets put them in a bath. The poor puppies were thirsty and exhausted—they could hardly keep their eyes open while the vets worked.
It took three days for the vets to remove all the tar. The whole time, the vets worried that the puppies wouldn’t survive their ordeal. But the puppies were fighters, and they refused to give up.
“Multiple warm baths later…and wow. For babies who had been on the brink of death, this is what happiness looks like,” Animal Aid Unlimited wrote on their website.
While the puppies recovered, rescuers began looking for their mom.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for them to find her. They brought the dog back to their rescue center, where she was reunited with her puppies. All four animals were so happy to be together again!
Once the puppies were cleaned up, their whole personalities transformed. All three puppies were energetic, and they loved playing with the rescuers and each other.
The puppies and their mom are all now happily living together at Animal Aid Unlimited’s rescue center. Thanks to the rescuers’ hard work, the three little puppies are healthy and in a safe place!
Animal Aid Unlimited posted a video of the rescue to their YouTube page, and it went hugely viral, receiving more than 30 million views. Everyone was amazed to see these puppies’ transformation.
