They called for help right before the entire vessel went underwater. And fortunately, there was another boat nearby. Its crew responded quickly to their call for help.

All the men were saved.

However, when the rescuers took a second look, they realized that the boat had other passengers. First-Class Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon took his camera and saw four helpless cats hanging on one of the crane-like structures of the boat.

Even though they were celebrating their successful rescue mission, the men still wondered about what happened to the boat. They weren’t able to get the full story. However, with the help of the officials, they realized another important thing.

The boat’s oil tank was prone to leaking.

Oil spills are bad for marine animals. The oil destroys their fur’s ability to provide insulation. ANd without it, animals become exposed to the harsh elements.

Additionally, leaking oil can get into the environment. It can ruin the salinity/pH levels of the water, kill every living organism there, and more.

Knowing how destructive the oil can be to marine life, the men went to work to make sure that the environment wouldn’t be harmed. They contacted concerned agencies and asked for their help in taking control of the situation.
