When Animal Aid Unlimited received a call from a goat herder about a baby goat drowning in a well, they knew they had to act fast.
The rescuer team quickly got their gear together and headed over to the farm. When they reached the well, the exhausted, scared baby goat looked up at them. She had been paddling for hours and she was ready to give up.
The poor baby goat had very little strength left, and she could barely stay afloat. Animal Aid Unlimited’s rescue team quickly grabbed their rope and started planning how to save this little goat.
One rescuer tied the rope around his waist, and the rest of the rescue team held it tight. The rescuer climbed down the ladder into the well. As soon as he reached the water, the baby goat swam over to him. She seemed to realize he was there to save her!
The rescuer held the little goat tight as he climbed back up. As soon as he reached the surface, he handed the goat over to another rescuer, who placed her on the ground. She was shaken up, but thankfully, she was okay!
“After rescuing her from the well we were relieved to find that despite being exhausted and traumatized from nearly drowning, she was fine,” Animal Aid Unlimited wrote on YouTube. “More than anything she wanted to be back by her mama’s side.”
Once the rescuers saw the goat wasn’t injured, it was time for her to reunite with her mama. The baby couldn’t wait to be back at her mother’s side!
The rescuers brought the baby to the goat herd, and she immediately ran to her mom. Her mom was so happy to see her too!
The baby goat has now settled back into life with her family and her herd, and she’s doing great. We’re sure she’s going to stay away from wells in the future!
On YouTube, many commenters thanked Animal Aid Unlimited for the work they did rescuing this baby. Everyone loved watching these rescuers at work.
Animal Aid Unlimited performs many rescues like this one throughout India. They’ve rescued countless puppies, dogs, donkeys, cows, and more who have gotten stuck in bad situations. They also run their own sanctuary where they look after about 150 dogs, 25 donkeys, 3 goats, 2 pigs, and 40 cows. Many of these animals were injured or sick when they came to the sanctuary, and they wouldn’t be able to survive on their own.
“Our mission is to replace apathy and neglect with protection,” Animal Aid Unlimited wrote on their Mission Page. “And by building a request-response culture, Animal Aid is teaching the local community that it is deeply satisfying to help a suffering animal. Feeling –and really BEING—a part of saving the life of a street animal changes each of us.”
