Snakes are one of those creatures that some people love and some people want nothing to do with. But even if you’re not a snake fan, you have to admit they are unique. An animal that slithers on the ground with no legs to speak of, that can eat things that are twice as big as its body? It’s definitely interesting.

And one of the most unique snakes is the rattlesnake. As their name says, they’re famous for rattling.

However, many people don’t realize how their tail rattles.

Daniel and his son Lincoln started a YouTube channel back in 2014 in order to help Lincoln with a science project.

Since then, they’ve dedicated their channel to exploring different types of interesting objects and they’ve gained over 7 million subscribers in the process!

In one video, Daniel and Lincoln decided to listen to their fans’ suggestion of dissecting a 100% real rattlesnake tail.

After receiving their purchased rattlesnake tail from eBay, Daniel and Lincoln first give the rattlesnake tail a couple shakes before proceeding. As a warning, they remind their viewers that these experiments shouldn’t be followed unless they have proper safety training.

Rattlesnakes are unique animals with some interesting features. According to Treehugger, they hear by sensing vibrations:

“Like other snakes, rattlesnakes have an inner ear structure without an eardrum, meaning they have no way of detecting airborne sounds. While some reptiles, such as certain types of lizards, have developed tympanic membranes, the inner ear of a snake is connected directly to their jaw. Instead, snakes have to rely on sensing vibrations through their jawbone. Biologists still debate about whether snakes detect sound through pressure or mechanical vibrations through the body, however.”

The video of the rattlesnake dissection is one of David and Lincoln’s most popular, and it’s garnered over 91 million views.

Many people took to the comments to share their love of the video. Some shared their hilarious guess of what was inside:

“Imagine he cuts snake’s rattle and there is a music band inside it.”

Another commented on how sweet David and Lincoln’s relationship is:

“The way he looks at his dad while he’s explaining the rattle is so cute he thinks his dad is so cool.”
