Meet Yasha—a raccoon with a very unusual job!
This raccoon helps his adopted dad, a veterinarian named Aleksei Krotov, at his clinic in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. And to his dad’s surprise, he’s amazingly good at calming down sick dogs.
When Krotov first adopted Yasha, he had no plans to take him with him to his veterinary clinic. Krotov had always wanted to adopt a raccoon. When he and his wife found a raccoon living in horrible conditions in Russia’s Krasnodar district, they knew this was the right animal for them. They brought him home with him, and the raccoon quickly settled into life in his new house.
One day, Krotov decided to take Yasha to work with him. It turned out, Yasha loved being in the office. And he also had a special skill: he was amazing with the vet’s dog patients.
Yasha was able to calm down dogs who were scared to be at the vet’s office. He pets the dog or simply sits with them. He helps these pups feel safe.
While dogs love Yasha, cats aren’t as fond of them. Once Krotov realized that, he decided to make Yasha a dog caretaker exclusively.
Everybody who visited Krotov’s clinic loved Yasha, and he soon became a local celebrity! People started going to Krotov’s clinic just to visit Yasha.
Yasha was also featured on a news show in Russia. The video shows Yasha playing with his furry friends. The clips show how Yasha calms down the dogs by playing with them. Yasha is gentle with the dogs, and he makes sure not to play too rough. The dogs enjoy their time with Yasha so much, they forget to be afraid of going to see the veterinarian!

Krotov pays his furry assistant in snacks. After he’s finished working for the day, Yasha gets to enjoy some tasty treats!
