Every shelter animal has its own story and they all equally deserve love. This story of a kitten, a pig, and how they formed their unusual friendship will definitely warm your heart.
This kitten was abandoned by his mom just after birth.
It is a known fact that some momma cats instinctively abandon their young if they sense that they will not survive. Unfortunately, a kitten named Marina was born the weakest among the litter. Her eyes were filled with pus and the poor kitten looked like she could die any second.
Because of that, Marina’s birth mother abandoned her, slimming down her chances of survival. Luckily, a group of people from the Santuario Igualdad Interspecies was able to rescue the poor kitten on time and brought her back to their shelter.
Marina meets this rescued pig who had gone through a terrible past.
When Marina got to the sanctuary, she met Laura, a piglet who was also rescued by the same people. Laura was rescued from a slaughterhouse that keeps a surplus of pigs to be cruelly harvested for their meat. It is pretty brutal to just keep these pigs their whole life just to be plainly treated as a source of food. She was given a better chance at life, and now she is living a great life with other animals.
The moment they locked eyes, they immediately knew each other’s pain.
Their depressing pasts were the key to their bonding. They immediately became best friends and were inseparable the whole time. They had some fun times doing activities together, and their rescuers were glad to see their interaction. However, Marina’s survival was not certain at all. She was still having health troubles but with the employees’ efforts, the sickly kitten was eventually able to recover from her sickness.
Because of Marina’s recovery, the two even had more time together.
It probably was Laura’s loving presence that kept Marina alive. The unusual friendship made it possible for the kitten to overcome her sickness. In just a few weeks, Marina has already recovered. They could see the life sparkling in her eyes, and she could already run around and play like a normal, healthy kitten.
She became playmates with the adorable piglet, and in cozy afternoons, they would become cuddle buddies. There is no way of separating them as they are looking at each other’s back all the time.
