They’re a lot like humans in that they’d often just rather stay home and wait it out when they’re sick.
But since we love them (sometimes more than ourselves), we have to take care of their health needs in a timely manner. And it’s really too bad we can’t explain to them that it’s necessary.
These 50 owners were on their way to the vet when the animals got wind of what was happening. And their reactions are priceless (and sometimes a little bit pathetic).
1. Pouting as protest
But this silly cat just seems to have lost the will to fight back.
Resistance is futile.
2. Wait, what?
That’s quite a 180 on the attitude.
3. Let me outta here!
We have to admit we laughed a little, but we also hope people remember that it’s safest to transport pets in secured crates so they don’t get hurt.
4. Car ride trauma
Just look at them console each other!
Just wait until they find out they’re headed somewhere fun instead.
My friend’s dogs think they are going to the vet when in reality they are headed to the park. from r/aww
5. Skeptical
Just look at that little glare as he waits to hear about his final destination.
6. Not even talking to you
That or she’s doing some world-class pouting in the hopes that the vet just goes away.
7. The side-eye
Looks like someone has some explaining to do.
8. First timer
If she’s not used to being in the car, she’s probably pretty confused right now about what the heck is going on.
9. It’s all in the eyes
Since he managed to poop in the office we’re not sure if he’s going to associate that ride with good times or not.
Theo had his first trip to the vet today. He was so cute with his little seatbelt and he pooped in the vet office. Such a good boy! from r/labrador
10. The look of fear
Hopefully, the camera just caught him at a bad time and things went well for this little one.
It couldn’t possibly have been as scary as he expected.
11. Not amused
Cats know how to hold a grudge just long enough for their owners to fall asleep.
She put up minimal fuss on the way to the vet for her old lady check up, didn’t pee on the vet tech this time, and was praised twice for being perfect. from r/seniorkitties
12. The worst soundtrack
The poor nervous fella clearly has some loving parents though, so we’re sure he got lots of love once it was over.
13. Taking his punishment
But we can’t help but chuckle about that stolen pizza.
Do you think he’ll learn his lesson? We’ve certainly never learned our lesson after eating a whole pizza.
He stole a pizza off the counter and was constipated the next day and had to be taken to the vet. I think he thought we were giving him away so he felt bad from r/GuiltyDogs
14. Let me go
We wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end of his revenge (though he’s certainly no pet).
15. Cute and angry
Since cats normally hide when they’re sick, maybe she’s just trying to prove she doesn’t need a trip to the vet after all.
Right before we brought her to the vet because she wasn’t feeling well….but still managed to be cute and photogenic from r/aww
16. Come and get me
We can only hope the second time’s a charm, otherwise his owner is going to have to put up with some serious cattitude for the rest of the day.
17. You wouldn’t dare!
The incredulity on this cat’s face is cracking us up.
No doubt Smee was mid-meow, but it sure does look like he’s shocked that his parents would do something as “cruel” as take him somewhere he doesn’t want to go.
18. I kill you
Now that is not a cat we’d be eager to let out of its cage.
We hope the vet has some treats lined up to earn trust.
19. This is crap, man
Can’t we just stay home, man?!
20. Puppy dog eyes
We’d feel so guilty making this pup pout, but good pet owners do what’s best for their furry one’s health.
And we all know they use those eyes to manipulate us too.
21. You will pay for this, hooman
This betrayal will not go unanswered – and no one will get to feel anything less than guilty the whole way there (and probably back too).
22. Strength in numbers
They both seem pretty calm though – which, with a cat, worries us even more.
23. Well this is stupid
Maybe they gave the cat something to relax – but that doesn’t necessarily stop the inner wheels from turning.
24. Kitten glare
And justice will come. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But someday, it will come.
25. Bummed bunny
Ronald’s botflies can’t be comfortable though, so we imagine he was already in a pretty bad mood.
26. Dude, what just happened?
Or maybe she feels great after getting some meds – only time will tell.
Picture taken a while back, this was right after her first trip to the vet, she had some bad noises in her throat that was checked out, this is right after she returned home. She is high as a kite. Nothing wrong tho. from r/aww
27. Too soon?
And it probably seems that way no matter where you are on the political spectrum.
28. Pouting pug
In fact, we’ll be surprised if this mood doesn’t last all day. Pugs know how to hold a grudge (at least for a little bit).
You gotta start driving yourself when your hooman lies and takes you to the vet instead of dog park from r/aww
29. What more could go wrong?
He’s clearly already received a bad haircut, how many more insults do you think he can handle!?
30. Please save me
And that’s a heck of a look.
It’s really too bad we can’t explain to them that we do this because we love them.
31. Wait, what did that sign say?
But this feline looks like it’s about to spill the beans to its doggie friend about where this whole “field trip” is headed.
32. Sorry, sleeping! Can’t go anywhere
If only they knew it works 0% of the time.
33. Don’t lie to me, hooman
He probably knows exactly how his owner’s voice changes when there’s a little bit of guilt in it.
This is not the face of a dog that looks like it just got asked to go for the fun kind of walk.
My mom’s dog when called to go for a walk, when in fact they’re taking him to the vet . He knows from r/aww
34. What you say?
“Sorry, man, can’t hear you, gotta stay right here.”
He looks tough to move too, so good luck with that!
35. My hiding spot will save me
It looks like it’s going to be a long day before they even get into the vet’s office.
36. You woke me up for that?!
That seems like a lot less drama.
It minimizes the stress-out time.
The face my cat gives me when I wake her up from her nap and throw her in her carrier to go to the vet. from r/aww
37. But I like that tooth
Of course, that means some of those chompers need to go as they get older.
This little girl looks like she’d rather keep the loosey instead of going to the vet though.
38. Why you ruin my day?
Now we’re pretty sure there’s going to be an attitude change-up.
39. I know what you’re doing
This dog knows he’s not headed for the dog park.
40. Someone save me!
We just hope the poor kitty is not in pain.
We also hope that the poor kitty is not so mad that it intends to take it out on its humans later either.
41. Nah, I’m good right here
That face doesn’t say “fear” so much as “try and make me move, hooman.”
42. You lied!
We’re not sure this kitten is getting everything out of the snuggles that its owner intended.
43. Aaaaand, I’m gonna poop in your shoes later
And this cat looks like it’s shouting a list of all the ways it’s going to get revenge later.
Hide your valuables.
44. Memories
Now we just want to know if his reaction to the vet is still the same.
This was the first time I took him to the vet. He was pissed at me. I can’t believe my little man will be 5 this year! They grow up too fast. from r/aww
45. I am not cat, I am ginger, the spice
It should have curled up in the back of the cabinet instead.
Still, we like the dedication.
46. They’re going to do WHAT to me?!
But it’s a good thing we can’t explain to them what that involves.
Otherwise, we’re pretty sure they’d make a face just like this.
47. Hi, I hate you
Maybe Mac is just fine, but we think it’s just as likely that Mac is looking at his owner like “wow dude, you’re going to need SO many new pairs of shoes after we get home later.”
48. I liked that glove
Sometimes lessons have to be learned the hard way.
Poor Henry’s sad face after an emergency trip to the vet when he swallowed a rubber glove. Amazing vet team brought it straight back up and a hard lesson was learned from r/labrador
49. Do you think you can fool me?
This pup isn’t fooled about where they’re going – and he wants his owner to know that it’s not appreciated one bit.
50. Strength in numbers
But sometimes it helps to have a buddy with you during the tough times.
But these trips are non-negotiable when it comes to their health.
And we all know from experience that sometimes the things that are good for us aren’t always the things we enjoy.
