Animals lose their parents all the time. It’s super sad when it happens because it usually means they won’t get to bond like they otherwise would. And even though they love affection from their human companions, sometimes, they just need an animal to cuddle with instead.

That’s true for all kinds of baby animals. But it’s especially hard on tiny kittens. Fortunately, some orphaned kitties get lucky and find a stand-in mother when their biological mom isn’t there.

A rough beginning

Mini Cat Town Kitten Rescue is located in San Jose, California. They received a message not long ago stating a litter of two-week-old kittens needed care. Someone needed to rescue them.

Orphaned babies

Their mom wasn’t around anymore. And being so young, they needed even more attention than normal kittens. Someone was going to have to bottle-feed them, which can be a difficult job.

They needed help

According to Thoa Bui of Mini Cat Town, “They were brought into the shelter late. Most rescues were full and bottle babies require extra work.” So, Thoa and her sisters brought the kittens home.

They were doing just fine

The four brother kittens were named Audi, Tesla, Ferrari, and Bentley. Soon after taking them home, these sweet kittens started eating. And it wasn’t long before they settled into their new space. Thoa said, “They were a little crusty and dirty but doing fine otherwise.”

Their pet Husky heard the commotion

The sisters also have a Husky named Lilo. When Lilo heard all the commotion with the new kittens, she had to check it out. Her family had brought little babies home before, so, she was used to the process already when these kittens arrived.

The kittens instantly fell in love

As the sisters expected, Lilo was interested in the kittens. But almost immediately, these little boys loved her, too. “When the kittens met Lilo, they automatically ran towards her, thinking she was their mom,” Thoa said.

Audi and Lilo got especially close

There was no question all the kittens love Lilo and she loves all of them. But she developed an extra close bond with Audi. This little guy started climbing all over the Husky right away. He turns to her for comfort and support.

Lilo really cares

Lilo wants to be the best mom to these kittens possible, even though she didn’t give birth to them. Whenever she hears their meows, she’ll come running. She just wants to make sure they’re okay.

Overseeing mealtime

Lilo always watches over the kittens while they eat, making sure they’re getting their proper nutrition. After that, when they’re done, she washes them from tip to tail. With every action she takes, she gets closer to the tiny kittens.

A mothering instinct

While it’s sad these kittens couldn’t be around their real mom, Lilo is doing an amazing job standing in. She really wants these little babies to know how much they’re cared for. It’s always so heartwarming to see animals that love each other like these do.
