Mina spent her first year of life in a public pound in Romania. The poor puppy was malnourished, and she also suffered from mange and anemia. After going through so much, the dog was terrified of being touched.

In January 2019, Diana Badescu and Catalin Stancu, the founders of rescue organization Howl of a Dog, went to the pound and saw Mina. They quickly decided to rescue Mina.

Even though Mina was now in a safe place, she was still very anxious. She started shaking every time someone came near her or tried to pet her.

The Howl of a Dog rescuers helped nurse Mina back to health, and soon, the puppy started gaining weight. Her mange also started clearing up, but she still wouldn’t let anyone touch her.

Diana, Catalin, and the other volunteers at Howl of a Dog were patient with Mina. They tried gently petting her, but when she began shaking, they backed away and gave her space.

After a week, the rescuers finally found something Mina loved: belly rubs!

The puppy stopped shaking as soon as the volunteers started rubbing her belly. The shy, anxious puppy had finally realized that the people around her loved her.

“She’s a sweet dog, very friendly with other dogs and, although she is still a little shy with people, she is starting to feel more confident every day,” Howl of a Dog wrote on their website.

Mina has now been at Howl of a Dog for about three months, and she’s doing great! She’s doubled her weight, and she gets more confident every day.

Mina has started playing with the other dogs at the shelter, and she loves running around in the snow. She also enjoys cuddling with the shelter volunteers. This puppy has made a stunning transformation in just a few months!

Mina is still being treated for mange, but once she’s fully recovered, Howl of a Dog will put her up for adoption. Hopefully, this sweet girl will go to the perfect home, a place where she’ll be spoiled and get all the love and care that she deserves.
