There’s no question that dogs are amazing. Not only are they fun to snuggle with, but they’re protective and loyal to a fault. Among the many things that animal owners like to do is take their puts for long walks. While outdoors, dogs get to act like, well, dogs. Some enjoy chasing squirrels, others like digging, and then some are fixated on finding sticks.

If you pay any attention to the internet, you’ve probably seen videos of even tiny dogs doing their best to retrieve a stick that’s way larger than their bodies. It’s hysterical. For one pup named Harper, she enjoys going to the park with her human owner and canine mom, Willow.

She’s super smart

Already, Harper has proven that she’s one smart cookie, just like her mom, Willow. Especially when it comes to exploring, she’s always up to something. One of her favorite pastimes is finding sticks. She’s become so good at it that her owner refers to her as a very capable “branch manager.” Even so, she’s still relatively young so she doesn’t always do things correctly.

“I can do it myself”

During one of their outings to a local park, Harper’s owner captured the funniest and sweetest moment to share with the world. It started when this sweet dog found an incredibly large stick. She was determined to take it with her on their walk. But she didn’t want any assistance.

This video is fantastic

In a video that’s now been viewed by thousands upon thousands of individuals, you see Harper try and try again to get the stick in her mouth. As she does, a jogger goes by and says, “Vicious dog.” Of course, his words were in jest. You can tell she doesn’t want to fail.

People can’t help but laugh

The sight of this sweet pup holding a massive stick in her mouth is beyond funny. What’s even more hysterical, every time she tries to turn around to follow her human owner, the stick hits something. Basically, she’s stuck and doesn’t know how to get herself out of the mess.

Clanging metal

Throughout the video, you hear the stick hit one metal object after another. Poor Harper. Since she had trouble turning around, she tries walking backward but without dropping her prized possession. Again, the stick hits a metal pole, causing a big clang. Then, the stick drops from her mouth.

Willow to the rescue

That’s when the owner says to Willow, “Go help her.” So, following her owner’s commands, Willow walks over to her pup. She gently grabs hold of the stick. Of course, Harper didn’t let go. That wasn’t going to happen. Using her body, Willow slightly nudges Harper, helping her turn her around, facing her owner.

Two is better than one

In only a few seconds, Willow and Harper are going in the right direction. With skilled guidance from her mom, this pup can now proudly walk with her stick throughout the park. You see the two of them, strutting side-by-side. Together, they accomplished the goal. Currently, Harper is great at finding large sticks but as far as carrying them, she still has a lot to learn.

As long as Willow is around, this precious dog will catch on quickly. Throughout this entire time, the pup’s owner remains completely patient, allowing his dogs to be dogs. If you need something to make you smile today, watch the video below.
