"Do you guys keep any pets around here?"

This is definitely something you don’t see every day in a fast food restaurant!

John McIntyre from Canon City, Colorado decided to go for a quick meal at his local Burger King restaurant, but he suddenly got a feeling that something was off. While he was enjoying his burger, he couldn’t help but feel as if he was being watched.

When the man started to look around, he couldn’t believe what he saw.

He spotted a cute little fella hiding right in the middle of the restaurant’s slushie machine.

Absolutely flabbergasted at first, he decided to take out his smartphone and film the small and wild animal’s adventures in the slushie fountain. Who knows what he’s been doing up there?

“I had no clue what it was at first,” the man said to The Dodo. “I got the manager. He spooked it and it went inside their walls through a small hole. He opened up the cabinet underneath the fountain machine and we could see it peeking at us through the hole.”

The man thought that it was someone’s pet at first, but it was quickly made obvious that this was a street animal looking for refuge – or a delicious slushie, of course.

After a store manager wanted to take a closer look, the animal disappeared.

He managed to escape via a small hole in the walls and even teased the manager a little bit before he disappeared completely.

The management staff then quickly decided to close the lobby until they were sure that the animal was out of the building, for safety reasons.

Although we can’t be a hundred percent sure, the spotted animal was most likely a ringtail cat. You don’t see these raccoon-like animals often, but they are native to this specific area.

Even though the Burger King restaurant in question didn’t want to make an official statement, it appears that the ringtail cat has made its way out of the building.

In fact, someone even believes that they’ve spotted the wild animal not too long after.

A staff member of a local car dealership spotted the animal on their parking lot, and he suspects that it’s the same one who infiltrated the Burger King restaurant.

Luckily, the employee made sure to call a local animal control center to make sure that the ringtail cat – who seemed a bit lost and might be looking for his nest – was safe.

Officer Tim Caudill was able to track him down and return him to his friends.

He knew of a colony of ringtail cats nearby and figured it would be best to release him there.

“I took him out to the west side of town, where there’s a colony of them, and I turned him loose there,” the animal control officer mentioned. “He looked just fine. As soon as I opened the door, he took off.”

As for the customer who spotted this little fella in the first place, he’s feeling a little bit sorry for his actions. After all, if he hadn’t involved the store manager, this ringtail cat probably would’ve been able to enjoy a couple of those slushies.

“Who knows how long it had been living there. It had a good setup,” McIntyre said. “I do feel a little bad about ruining his new home, but I had to. I mean, that sugar water is pretty yummy so I don’t blame the critter,” he concluded.

However, the most important thing is that this ringtail cat made it back safely to his colony after going on quite the fast food adventure!
