Poor Rusty has been in and out of shelters his whole life. He thought he finally found his forever home, but he was returned after just one day.

Not all dogs that need to be adopted can easily find a person who will take care of them. Many of them are in shelters still waiting to become somebody’s pet.

An ideal human for a dog could be a person who wants a pet to become part of the family. That ideal human could also be someone from an organization that gives long-term care to orphaned or rescued animals.

A shelter dog is lucky if it finds a permanent home, but it’s not all the time that a dog finds one. There are dogs that have become shelter animals again because they were returned by people who adopted them. Take for example the case of one dog named Rusty.

The dog had stayed with that the Humane Society of Central Texas ever since he was a puppy. He had been under the care of many adoptive people and other organizations for animals, but they all sent him back to that animal shelter in Texas.

Rusty even experienced having to wait 419 days in the shelter until someone adopted him.

Rusty was sadly a frequent returning resident at The Humane Society of Central Texas.

There were many reasons why Rusty was always sent back to the Texas shelter by his adoptive humans. Rusty’s first adoption came when he was still a puppy. The dog was supposed to live his life with his adoptive humans. But, he soon found himself being put again for adoption by the shelter because the family had given up on him due to his hyperactivity.

The pooch also became a resident of a foster home for two months.

He was then sent to a shelter in Idaho to have a better chance at being kept as a pet. Many dogs that were transported with him were taken in by kind adopters. Rusty, however, had to be sent back to Texas after two months of waiting for someone to come get him.

In November 2020, Rusty’s luck seemed to have finally changed when someone took interest in him and kept him as a pet. Sadly, the adoption did not last long and the dog’s new home did not become a permanent one.

The unfortunate dog went back to the shelter again only after a month in his new home. The people who adopted him returned him because he was being destructive.

Rusty got another chance at finding a new home when a couple fell in love with him and decided to take him home.

Unfortunately, the couple also gave up because it became apparent that he was too much work for them. The dog was their pet for only 24 hours. Rusty had no choice but to be that adoptable dog again in the Texas shelter.

They say that one must not lose hope. So, there is always a chance for Rusty to find a human that will keep him for good through organizations like the Humane Society of Central Texas.

In April of this year, Rusty is adopted once again by an organization for animals. The name of the organization is Pearl’s Place, and it is dedicated to helping dogs that can’t find a forever home.

Pearl’s Place has taken Rusty in to work on his problem. With the help of the organization, the unfortunate dog might just be able to find a permanent home and loving humans that will take care of him.
