Siblings are important. They’re the longest relationship we’re likely to have in our lives, and they’re the only ones who truly know who we are and where we come from. Sadly, I don’t have any siblings— but these two adorable kitten brothers share a bond that everyone can enjoy!
Anya Yukhtina, from Moscow, Russia, had been looking for a cat and knew exactly what she wanted— a sweet, ginger kitten.
Not to say she would discriminate against other kitties, but everyone has their preferences, of course. She had been wanting a cat for a while but had never quite taken the leap. Now though, she was ready.
Anya logged onto Facebook and wrote a post on her wall. She told her friends she was looking for a ginger kitten and asked them to notify her if they came across any sweet babies that needed a home.
“I’ve wanted to have a ginger cat my whole life— and now, I”m going to get one.”
Anya’s father’s friend, knowing Anya was looking for a ginger cat, called the young woman that very evening.
By some benevolent twist of fate, the man had come across two ginger kittens in his garden, and they seemed to be completely alone.
The man had told Anya there was only one kitten and that he appeared to be about 2-weeks-old. But when Anya’s friend went to pick the kittens up for her, she returned with two babies that were a bit younger than expected. They were only 10-days-old.
“My friend’s father found them in the garden of their country house and my friend brought them to me,” she said.
Anya named the kittens Skinny and Fatty.
But shortly after arriving at Anna’s, the babies got sick with ringworm. For those who are unaware, ringworm is a fungal infection that affects the skin, fur, and nails of cats, particularly in kittens. The treatment for ringworm can be pretty intense. In Anna’s case, she had to wash the kittens every two days while giving them shots of medicine. Eventually, however, they were cured.
Because Skinny and Fatty were so little, she also had to teach them how to eat. It took about a month, but luckily, they figured it out.
With Anna’s devotion to her ginger kitties, Skinny and Fatty are now healthy and grown. She also says the mischievous brothers share an incredible bond.
“Now Fatty and Skinny are 8 months old, and they are healthy and happy,” she said.
“Sometimes they run after each other, but the fighting stops quickly and purring begins.”
“They are always together! They sleep and eat together.”
“And when they try to steal something from the table, they also do it together.”
“They are the best of friends!”
Anya loves her ginger babies and often showcases them on her Instagram.
It’s so amazing to see these two babies saved and adopted into the same home.
Now, they’ll never have to worry about loneliness— because they’ll always have their brother and Mama right by their sides!
