Dogs are famously known as ‘man’s best friend.’

But in fact, we’d argue that dogs are really even better friends with babies! After all, dogs and babies both love playing more than anything else in the world. And sometimes, they even seem to speak the same language.

Unfortunately for dogs, we adult humans have other responsibilities that require our time. But a baby?

A baby is right there with you, dog. They’ve got nothing but time and an imagination that can last for hours on end.

When baby Garrett and Phoenix the Husky decide that it’s time to play, it’s game on.

And the true beauty of a game between a baby and a husky is the simplicity. All baby Garrett has to do is a little jump and let out a joyous squeal. Then, it’s Phoenix the Husky’s turn to return the favor.

He jumps up on all fours, does a few quick side steps, and lets out a happy howl that sends Garrett into a laughing fit.

There’s something to be learned from the joy that a baby and a dog exhibit.

We get so used to the mundane reality of our lives that we forget to take pleasure in the small thing — something that neither a baby nor a dog ever forgets to do.

Don’t believe me?

When’s the last time that you ran up to your loved ones when they walked in the door and greeted them with the enthusiasm of a dog? Or how about the last time that you jumped and ran and laughed just for the sake of doing so? That’s what I thought.

We forget that there is more to life than working hard and saving money. So why do we spend so much time making such a big deal out of meaningless drama and pointless frustrations?

Whatever the answer may be, at least we’re not alone in feeling this way.

A study conducted in the U.K. found that “life is ‘least fun’ at age 45…”

And not only that, but the study also revealed that the actual “concept of fun” ended for almost half of the participants when they entered adulthood.

So does that mean that we’re doomed to live a mediocre and “funless” life for the rest of our boring days?

I don’t think so. It just takes a little more effort to have fun as we get older.

And in some cases, all it takes is a simple smile to get those happiness juices flowing.

According to a study in Science Daily, “facial expressions have a small impact on feelings. For example, smiling makes people feel happier, scowling makes them feel angrier, and frowning makes them feel sadder.”

Easy right? It’s not that hard to let out a few smiles every once in a while.

And luckily for you, you don’t have to generate that smile all on your own if you don’t want to.

Just watch the video of baby Garrett and Phoenix the Husky playing in their living room and I promise you that you won’t be able to keep a smile from stretching ear to ear.
