A mother being separated from her child is the worst heartbreak they could feel. It’s true whether that mother is a human or animal.

That’s why a Bolivian sloth couldn’t have been more overjoyed when she was reunited with her lost child.

Wildfires burned up the bushland where the mother and her baby were living. This forced them to have to flee to a neighboring town.

Unfortunately, the momma and her baby somehow became separated in the process. That sloth ended up in the care of veterinarian Marco Greminger.

He got a call about a baby sloth that was found alone near the town of Trinidad. It was believed that the mom and baby were separated after running into some unfriendly dogs.

But Mom wasn’t about to be run off by a bunch of cranky beasts.

Not when it came to protecting her child.

Greminger suspected that this might be the case and found mom hiding in a tree 300 ft. away from where the baby was found.

So, he brought the baby to where mom was and left the child nearby so she could come and collect him.

Their reunion was caught on video, and you could visibly see how relieved they were to be back together again. The little baby squeals happily when he sees his mom near.

Mom seems to be moving pretty fast (for a sloth) toward her baby.

According to World Wildlife Foundation, sloths move slowly because of their extremely low metabolic rate.

They travel an average of 41 yards per day which is less than half the length of a football field.

She immediately scoops him up when’s within her grasp.

She nuzzles his face and it looks like she’s covering him with kisses.

The little baby clings to his mother and seems like he isn’t about to let go any time soon!

“A mother’s heart is the most beautiful place for a child. In all the space of the Universe there is only one heart like this. Thanks to the call of his princess (Maria Esther) from my friend Dorian Quiroga del Rio the reunion of mother and son was achieved,” Greminger wrote on Facebook.

Greminger wanted to make sure that these sloths would be able to thrive on their ownm so he brought them back to his clinic for a check-up.

After he determined that they were both in good health, the mother and son were returned to the wild.

Greminger posted a video of the sloth on his Facebook page, where it was viewed more than 29,000 times.

“This truly made me cry and happy. The love of parents. Pure beauty,” said one Facebook commenter.

“Very precious, this made me cry. The way the mama sloth grabbed her baby, smelled her or him, and kissed is enough to make humans believe that animals are like us, emotion and feelings wise,” another said.
