It’s no secret that dogs make the best pals. They possess many qualities that qualify them for such a title. For example, they always have your back when you need somebody in your corner and they will make sure that you never feel alone.
Dogs have a tendency to make their owners the center of their universe. The moment you leave their side, they will wait for your return no matter how long it takes.
Though they make us feel like a priority, we too make our furry friends feel like that they are the center of our universe as well. And let’s face it, they sorta are!
One golden retriever in Michigan named Tucker knows this feeling all too well. Aside from having social media accounts on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter, he is the apple of his owner’s eye.
His owner, Courtney (also known as “Linda”), is a self-proclaimed “passionate foodie” and “YouTube cook” but she always makes time for her Tucker.
In a recent video posted on Tucker’s YouTube page, Courtney is seen playing with another golden retriever named Riley.
While there isn’t anything unusual about this sort of interaction, Tucker is clearly bothered that Courtney is spending so much time with another dog.
Ironically, Riley and Tucker are far from strangers. In fact, Riley belongs to one of Courtney’s friends. But when Riley came to stay with Courtney and Tucker for a week, it was pretty obvious that Tucker didn’t want to share the spotlight.
It doesn’t take long to see Tucker reacting to Courtney’s relationship with Riley. In the video, Courtney sits down on the floor and is joined by their houseguest. But within seconds, they are, quite literally, interrupted by Tucker who sees the two getting a little too close for his comfort.
As Courtney pats and rubs Riley’s luxurious fur, Tucker inserts himself in between the two. At first, Riley doesn’t move but when Tucker insists by getting a bit wild on Courtney’s lap, he walks off camera.
But don’t feel too bad, the cameraman, presumably Courtney’s husband, Mike, welcomes him.
In the following clip, Courtney is joined on the bed by Riley. Again, Courtney is petting him but eventually, Tucker jumps onto the bed and forces Riley to move.
No matter where she goes with Riley, Tucker makes sure to intervene to ensure that he gets all of her attention.
One thing is for certain, he sure is getting the attention of millions of people. The YouTube video has over 18 million views! In addition, he has over 2 million subscribers on his YouTube channel alone.
Despite all of this attention, he only wants the attention from the person who matters the most — his Courtney.
While the video is undoubtedly funny, it’s important to set boundaries with your pet. Dogs, for example, are pack animals and you, as their owner, are a member of their pack. Because you provide them with food, playtime, and love and affection, they see you as valuable and might follow you around quite a bit.
However, be mindful to give some space between you and your best friend. Allowing your dog to socialize with other dogs and people gives them the opportunity to strengthen their social skills. That way, they have a lesser chance of developing separation anxiety when you aren’t around.
