Dogs are amazing creatures. They’re smart, funny, and extremely loyal. They love spending as much time with their humans as possible. If their mom or dad is doing something, they want to be right in the middle of it. That’s just one of the many reasons why we love our pets so much.

One exception

Most dogs hate going to the veterinarian clinic. Usually, it’s because they relate the vet with trauma. The minute you walk in for an appointment, they experience different sights, smells, and people. If for those with an amazing vet, for pups, it’s all a bit overwhelming.

Experiencing what they feel

A few years back, the owner of a gorgeous German Shepherd named Enzo loaded him into the car for a trip to the vet. He and his wife decided to film it so that other people could experience what a lot of dogs go through. To date, this video has been viewed more than 14 million times.

A brief history

Enzo’s owner explains that they’d moved from a northern to a southern state. As a result, their beautiful pup developed allergies. Obviously, they didn’t want him feeling miserable so he needed to have a checkup.

Not what he thought

Now, most dogs love going for car rides. After all, they often end up at a dog park, which equates to having a lot of fun with new friends. So, in the video, this German Shepherd doesn’t seem too bothered…at first.

Everything’s cool

At the start of the video, you see this dog’s owner. In the backseat is Enzo with his head hanging out the window. He even lets out a few noises to indicate he’s excited to go on a trip. But it doesn’t take long before he has a change of attitude.

He figured it out

The second that Enzo realizes they’re heading to the vet’s office, he changes completely. You can see his mom placing her hand over her face. Both she and her husband feel bad. But this is all for his good. They just wish he knew that.

Freak out time

Once it hits him, Enzo begins to let out loud whines and soft barks. He’s pacing back and forth in the backseat. Then, he comes to the center to look out the windshield. Poor thing is probably hoping his instincts are wrong. But they’re not.

At the vet

That’s when Enzo’s dad announces, “Here we are at the vet.” You can see this pup isn’t very happy about the destination. Then his mom comments, “My big German Shepherd. He’s not afraid of anything.”

Time to go inside

As soon as the mom opens the driver’s side door to bring Enzo out, you see fear in his eyes. At that moment, he’d rather be doing anything but this. Then, his dad says, “ah” knowing that this is stressing out his pup but it has to be done.

A helpful tip

Dog experts, including veterinarians, understand how some dogs get really upset when coming in for an exam. So, they offer some information to help. For one thing, they suggest people take their pups to the clinic for nothing more than a social visit. Most vets are perfectly fine with this.

Another option

For dogs that have extreme stress and anxiety, a veterinarian can prescribe medication that’ll help calm them down before arriving for an appointment. Although that’s usually the last option, it helps tremendously in certain situations.
