Pit bulls are considered bully dogs, and they often get animosity from other breeds and even from humans, too. They have a fierce look that makes almost everyone feel wary about being around them, instead of wanting to play with them.

One of these people is an elderly woman who happened to live next to a pit bull. She was not happy about it until one day, the unexpected happened and the same pit bull she despised was the only ticket for her to stay alive.

This is Simba, a pit bull owned by Arjanit Mehana from Sweden. He may look aggressive at first glance, but the dog is described by Arjanit as nothing but wonderful. However, one person in their neighborhood was not keen on being around his dog.

An elderly woman who was living next to their home was not at all happy about Simba’s presence in their apartment complex. She always called him mean and a “bad breed” and was afraid of the dog, despite Simba’s attempts to greet her.

She did not want anything to do with the dog and probably wished it wasn’t living near her home. But, that was until an untoward incident took place which absolutely changed her perception of Simba’s breed.

One day, while Arjanit and Simba were returning home from a walk, Simba started to behave unusually. He looked bothered and stopped in his tracks right by the elderly woman’s door.

“He stopped,” Arjanit recalled. “He began to bark and run to the door where the neighbor lives. I pulled the leash but he refused to come.”

Arjanit’s started to get confused and decided to pull Simba away from the elderly woman’s door. When he bent down to carry him away, that’s when he heard a tiny voice on the other side of the door.

“I heard a weak voice shout for help,” Arjanit recounted. “She said, ‘Please don’t go.'”

He immediately reached for the door knob which was thankfully left unlocked. He walked inside the apartment followed by Simba and there, they found the elderly woman on the floor. She accidentally fell down and broke her hip, making it impossible for her to move.

“She had broken her hip and been in her home for a while,” Arjanit said.

As it turned out, the old woman has been on the floor for about two days after she fell down. She was calling for help but no one can hear her. Only Simba and his strong instincts and sense of hearing heard the elderly woman’s desperate call for help.

Arjanit called for an ambulance right away. He and Simba did not leave the woman’s side until help finally came. She was quite thankful that the dog saved her life.

“She said, ‘Thank you for hearing me.’ I thought she was talking to me at first,” Arjanit shared. “But then she said, ‘No, not you — the nice doggie.'”

With what happened, Arjanit hopes to encourage others about being nice around pit bulls. Like other dogs, they are fun dogs that we can play with.

“I know Simba is a wonderful dog. But I hope this event will make people see bully breeds differently. We, as human beings, must deserve their loyalty and love,” Arjanit urged.

This incident just proved how a supposedly “bully” dog turned out to be a nice dog who also deserves love and trust from humans. Judging by appearance is something that we should not do, even with the case of animals. Getting to know them before making any judgements is the best thing that we can do.
