A dog got caught up in a precarious life-and-death situation, but luckily for the pooch, someone was there to notice him just at the right time to give him another chance in life. Today’s story will be about this fateful coincidence that will just make your day.
This Amazon delivery driver was out in the neighborhood delivering packages.
We consider our Amazon delivery drivers as our heroes especially when they do a great job at handing packages safe and sound. However, when this certain Amazon employee, Josh Cassabria, was out in Woburn, Boston for a delivery, he ended up becoming more than just a delivery hero.
On a hot summer day, Cassabria was passing by a house in Woburn when he noticed a dog’s snout sticking out of someone’s pool. He instantly realized that the dog was drowning and he rushed in to rescue the dog.
“I thought only of the dog at the moment,” Cassabria said.
Cassabria hurdled over the fence and dove into the pool to rescue the drowning dog.
He did not even take anything off, as his phone and wallet, and just dove straight into the water. He told the CBSN Boston News that “none of that mattered” as he was already set in saving the dog’s life.
It was a 14-year old Husky who was left at home while his parents were out for the day.
The name of the dog was Luka, and his owners were out of town that day when the tragedy happened. According to WBZ-TV, it was a bone stuck in the pool’s vacuum cord that was responsible for luring the dog into the pool.
Luka, in his age, could not swim as he used to before and his owner shared about the problems Luka had with his hind legs. By the time the dog fell in the pool, he was stuck and struggling to get out. If it weren’t for Cassabria, he would not have made it out of there.
Luka’s owners were thankful for Cassabria’s heroic efforts.
After saving Luka, Cassabria immediately called the local Animal Control and waited for them to get there. When the Woburn Animal Control arrived, the officer then informed Luka’s owner, Julie Caldwell, who was caught by a surprise after hearing about everything that happened.
“I was in tears. What in the world? Could not believe it,” Caldwell said after sharing about the phone conversation she had with the Animal Control.
Caldwell then sent her gratitude toward Cassabria through a letter she sent at Amazon.
The letter read:
“I can’t thank him enough. Words cannot express how grateful we are to him. I have tears in my eyes as I write this email. Luka is doing fine thanks to your wonderful and courageous employee.”
Despite everything that happened, Luka’s rescuer remained humble.
After the incident, Cassabria went on to finish all his deliveries in the area. When the news reporters later asked him about his heroic rescue, he just gave them a humble response.
“I happened to be in the right moment at the right time,” he said. “I would repeat the same actions over and over if I had to.”
