Arat Montoya has every dog lover’s dream job. This enterprising businessman created a Doggy School Bus!
Montoya lives in West Linn, Oregon, and he offers a unique doggy daycare service. Every morning, Montoya drives around to his clients’ houses and picks up the pups in his big yellow ‘school bus.’ Then, he drives them out to ‘school’—a fenced-in, five-acre rural property where the pups can run around and play with all their friends.
Montoya started his business in 2016. He has always been a dog lover, and for years, he worked at the Dog Club of West Linn. After that business closed, he started working with private clients. But when he learned his wife was pregnant, he knew he needed to expand his business.
He had a bright gold Scion xB, and so he decided to transform it into his first doggy school bus.
Word quickly spread through West Linn about Montoya’s school bus, and soon he had tons of clients.
“I got 16 customers within two weeks,” Montoya told Oregon Live. “People were going bananas.”
Montoya knew he needed a bigger vehicle, and so he bought a bright yellow van to use as his new school bus.
Today, Montoya has more than 300 clients, and he sees a different pack of dogs each day of the week. The dogs are always excited to see the school bus coming—many run outside right when Montoya pulls up!
“He’s always happy when he comes home, and he loves going,” one dog mom told Oregon Live.
Montoya is just as happy as his pups. He absolutely loves what he does!
“I’m the happiest man in the world doing what I’m doing,” he said.
Montoya welcomes all dog breeds, and he loves all of his pups. But he did admit that there are some class clowns at the school—and typically, they’re Chihuahuas.
“I’ve never had an issue with a pitbull. I’ve never had an issue with a German shepherd or a Rottweiler,” Montoya said. “But, let me tell you, I’ve had an issue with a Chihuahua.”
Montoya hopes to continue growing his business—clearly, there’s plenty of demand! He has bought another van, and now he’s looking for more employees who can handle the dogs. So far, the pups haven’t been as well-behaved with the other employees as they are with Montoya.
Montoya is a kind dog lover who has created a wonderful business that brings joy to so many dogs throughout West Linn. If you want to learn more about Montoya, check out the video below.
