For many dog owners out there, this story is a difficult one. At the end of the day, we may never understand why people treat animals the way they do. It is often heartbreaking and undeserved on the animal’s part. Despite this poor treatment by some, there are always others who are willing to sacrifice and take up these animals’ case.
Dogs are some of the most devoted and loving animals in the world. There are countless stories of dogs putting their lives in danger for the sake of their owners, and ultimately, their friends. In short, we don’t deserve dogs!
We have all heard of the wonderful trait that dogs have being used against them. Dogfighting is a perfect example of this. For fighting dogs, the owners will often make themselves appear to be in danger to get their dog angry and protective over them. When they are in protector mode, they let the dogs fight.
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, we see a miserable situation. Thankfully, the entire thing was caught on camera. In the video, we see a truck drive up with a dog and owner inside. When the man stops his truck, he lets the dog out and immediately drives off, leaving the dog.
The hopeful dog sat in the dusty road waiting for his beloved owner to come back and pick him up. Nine hours later, the poor dog is still sitting, lonely, and distraught that he has been abandoned.
With the trail camera catching everything, rescuers were able to go and immediately find the dog. When they picked him up, the poor pup was SO excited to see another human! His first step was to get a check-up from the vet.
The rescuers decided to name the little pup Rocket, and it looks like he has a personality suited to the name! He was completely healthy and seemed to be doing well, despite his random abandonment.
With financial stress causing issues for many, a dog may have been viewed as an expense that wasn’t necessary. Oklahoma Alliance for Animals said:
“While we understand that people may be struggling to care for their pets due to COVID, there are resources and organizations here to help, including us. Doing this to a living, feeling being should never be the answer.”
The situation is currently under investigation, but the good thing is that Rocket is safe! The Alliance is also making sure that he never falls into the wrong hands again.
“We will ensure he is vetted and has a full belly and a safe warm place to rest his head,” the rescue said. “We will ensure he never suffers this fate again.”
