Best friends are one of the greatest gifts They’re family members that you choose; they support you through it all and listen to your darkest secrets. If I could, I would live with my best friend— but unfortunately, that’s not realistic, as sometimes reality gets in the way. As humans, we have jobs, families, and schedules that can prevent us from spending as much time with our friends as we’d like— but, apparently it seems, animals encounter this situation too.
An anonymous dog from Guaraulhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, was feeling pretty lonely when his owner left him to go on a 10-day vacation.
Sure the pup had someone taking care of him, but life just wasn’t the same without his master and beloved best friend. He had no familiar body to snuggle with during the night and this dog-sitter was not putting the right amount of food in his dish. Quite frankly, the dog just wanted to his owner to come home— but he had no idea when that would be. For all this poor dog knew, his owner was never coming back. He had abandoned him for life and would never be seen of again— disappearing into the mysterious abyss the humans referred to as “vacation”.
One day, the dog sitter packed the dog up in his truck and took him for a ride. When they got to busy parking lot, the canine was confused.
“Where are we?” the dog wondered. “And who are the random people carrying all these bags?”
But that’s when the dog spotted a familiar face in the crowd— and his ears perked right up.
It was his owner! And upon seeing that familiar face, the dog jumps out of the small truck window…
And runs right into his owner’s open arms.
The reunion is so heartwarming. The dog leaps around the man delightedly, so ecstatic to have him back.
It had only been a short 10 days, but it had felt like forever to this loyal pup!
However, as is the case in most friendships, the excitement is not one-sided.
The owner seems just as happy to see his pet, snuggling and showering him with kisses.
The reunion, which was uploaded to YouTube in January of this year, has already amassed more than 440,000 views! It’s so sweet to see the dog’s unabashed joy as he’s finally reunited with his owner. A few of the top comments read:

“This is amazing! It’s so beautiful!”
According to Brain Craft, the dog’s reaction is genuine. Recent studies in neuroscience suggest that “dogs really DO miss us— just like we’d always hoped.” But just because they’re capable of missing us does not mean they have an accurate sense of how long we’re actually gone.
As Science Alert explains: “Research suggests that they’re more excited to greet their owner if they’re alone for two hours than 30 minutes. But between two and four hours there’s not much difference.”
Regardless of the science behind it, this dog’s joy is downright adorable!
