Some people just have a comforting presence about them. No matter the situation, they are able to walk into a room and make everything feel just a bit better or more under control. This type of person is usually incredibly empathetic and loving toward most they meet. As this video might prove to you, dogs can have that same personality too!

Nati is a Jack Russell terrier with a special gift.

Nati’s special gift isn’t the ability to fetch really well or track as some dogs can. Nati is an incredible nanny! At four years old, this Jack Russell mix is one of the most calming presences that the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary has in their arsenal. The sanctuary is located in Namibia, Africa, and it is devoted to the protection of its animals.

One of the tricks that they have up their sleeves is Nati.

There are so many different animals that show up at the sanctuary and the wonderful people who work there spend hours making sure that the animals get the best care possible. What is funny is that Nati is sometimes the best medicine for them!

Marlice van Vuuren is the founder of the sanctuary.

When Marlice needs help caring for the animals, Nati is right by her side. Nati helps animals who need a foster mom and gets them back on track for recovery. As a result, Nati has become a sort of foster mom for other animals that usually don’t get along with dogs.

A few years ago a tiny brown hyena cub was sent to the shelter to receive care.

They named the little hyena Nanna and introduced her to Nati. Instantly, there was a connection and Nati took on a motherly role to the hyena. Nurturing and protecting her, Nati became fast friends with Nanna. Now, two years later, Nanna is many times the size of Nati and looks quite a bit more fierce! Thankfully, they are still the best of friends and Nanna still acts like Nati is her mom.

More than just hyenas, Nati is a nanny to dozens of friends.

Playing with cheetahs, jackals, and baboons, Nati is quite well rounded when it comes to different animal social groups. Seeing the little dog jump and play on top of a cheetah is enough to make your heart stop but the little dog doesn’t get hurt! She keeps everyone in check perfectly while loving them when they need it.

The baboons are especially funny to watch.

Nati leads a group of 40 baboons on a walk each day. She loves to play with them and they love to mess with her right back. Baboons are notoriously sneaky and playful and Nati probably has a blast playing.

The baboons even go so far as to mimic Nati.

You can see how carefully the baboons watch Nati as she moves about the troupe. They will often mimic her and do something that baboons never do in the wild. For example, dogs love to dig, especially Nati. When they baboons see Nati digging, they get right next to her and try it themselves!
