It’s always great to come home and see your dog waiting for you. Their excitement is contagious, and it makes coming home always wonderful.

However, one dog dad noticed that his pup didn’t always react quite so excitedly to him. But on the contrary, he was always thrilled when mom came home. The dad decided to film the pup’s reaction to him and his wife, and what he captured is hilarious and adorable.

The video below is titled, “Golden Retriever Reacts to Dad Coming Home vs. Mom.”

Jesse is the one who’s conducting the experiment, which focuses on the interesting thing he noticed.

After work, he presses record while sitting in the driveway and captures a glimpse of Oshie watching from the window.

While it seems like the pooch will probably go nuts once dad walks in – Jesse has a different prediction.

He explains:

“Oshie’s standing in the window, waiting for me to go inside. But I bet once I get in there, he’s not gonna act all that excited.”

Time to put Oshie to the test.

Dad’s keys jingle while he unlocks the front door, and for a lot of dogs – it’s a sound that sends them into a frenzy. Once Jesse opens the door though, the Golden Retriever isn’t even there to greet him.

Wait, he saw him coming!

Where are you, Oshie?

Jesse starts calling the dog’s name while walking through the house. He’s gonna come running, right? Nope. Dad has to walk into the living room to find him.

Oshie does give a few signs that he’s happy to see dad.

The Golden Retriever’s tail wags and he goes up to Jesse for some love and attention. Although he’s not acting overly excited – there’s no question he’s glad he’s home!

Jesse takes Oshie outside for a cookie and some fresh air, and it’s the cutest intermission ever.

According to the AKC, the Golden Retriever is a devoted, friendly, and intelligent dog breed that carries their playfulness into adulthood.

It’s easy to see that Oshie likes to have fun too!

Mom eventually comes home and we get to see Oshie’s second reaction.

When Jesse knows that Nancy is in the driveway, he goes to open the front door. The pooch is right there with him waiting anxiously for him to do so.

The moment the door is opened, Oshie flies like lightning outside to go greet mom. Wait a minute…

The Golden bounds so fast down the walkway to the driveway that Jesse can’t even keep up. Where was this energy before?

Oshie’s so happy, he even lends mom a hand.

The dog takes Nancy’s purse in his mouth and goes to carry it inside for her. It seems like it’s not the first time either. What a good boy!

The video is so adorable and funny it’s gathered 84K “likes”. One person commented:

“🤣🤣 So hilarious he’s chill with you then goes the extra mile for his mom.”

Another wrote:

“So apparently a dog isn’t a mans best friend 😂😂”
