Getting married is one of the most memorable events in a person’s life.
So it’s only natural to have your closest circle bear witness to its splendor and spectacle. And when we say “closest circle”, we’re saying family and friends. And when we say family, yes, the dog is most definitely included.
We’ve seen it all, from dogs carrying rings, dogs escorting the bridal party, or the couple’s dog standing on either side of the bride and groom. These pets have been with us in the most difficult of times and the most triumphant of times, and it’s only fitting that they’d get to see your happiest moment.
But in a wedding at Arlington, Washington, a dog has a different idea when it comes to “’til death do us part”.
Family and guests were treated to an unexpected moment as the wedding reception began to rev up in full swing.
While sharing of wedding vows has its share of shenanigans and funny but heartwarming speeches, we all know that reception parties are truly where it’s at. As the couple slowly made their side-stepping into their first dance, one fellow thought that she’s as much of a part of the union as her humans.
Seth and Nicole Funden have always considered Eva, their Labrador, a part of their family.
And now that they will be one, Eva decided she should join the fun.
As the couple turned, a sight made both of them excited. Down by their feet, their cream-colored fur ball approached them in curiosity and enthusiasm. Her tail was wagging like a frenzied windshield wiper and we can blame it on the happy energy of the event.
The couple petted Eva at first. Maybe they thought that all she needs are some good belly rubs in front of all these nice people.
All of a sudden, Seth and Nicole stopped for a moment. You can even see the cameraman rushing to get a better angle because when they finally turned, their couple waltz became a “three’s a crowd” affair. Eva stood on her hind legs and carefully side-stepped with the loving couple.
Seth and Nicole each held a paw and as a family, they danced in front of their family and friends.
The kids loved it, the guests loved it, and most especially, the couple loved it too.
One of the guests shared with The Dodo about Eva’s relationship with Seth and Nicole.
“They both spend so much time with Eva,” Selena Mercedes told the animal channel. “They take her everywhere they go.”
Seth and Nicole can now include “first dance, wedding” to that list of “everywhere”.
And the best part about all this is how spontaneous everything was. Eva’s love is as instinctive as her owner’s towards her.
“It was the sweetest thing. I had no idea it was going to happen,” Mercedes said to The Dodo. “It brought tears to my eyes.”
And besides the “aww’s” and the laughter, this video undoubtedly brought tears to our eyes too. It’s something really magical when you see a human, or two humans, love their pet as much as they do with family.
