One burning hot day in Dubai, Anand Raman went to visit his sister at work. Everyone in Dubai was trying to find ways to keep cool—including the stray animals that called the city home.
As Raman was walking into his sister’s office, he spotted one of these animals. Raman saw a stray dog sitting underneath a car, eating scraps and hiding from the sun. The pup’s fur was matted and something was clearly wrong with his legs.
The dog noticed Raman looking at him and started wagging his tail. Then, he ran up to Raman like they were old friends.
“He approached me with a curious but excited disposition, wagging his tail excitedly. This demeanor of his is what initially made me fall in love with him,” Raman told The Dodo. “We then sat there for a while on the sidewalk and he was content just receiving pets from me for a while.”
Raman fell in love with the dog and immediately decided to take him home. Raman carried the pup into his car, and the content dog fell asleep on his shoulder.
Raman brought the dog over to the vet to get his wobbly gait checked out. It turned out the dog had rickets, but thankfully, this condition is completely treatable.
After the appointment, Raman gave the dog a bath. After Raman had washed all the dirt off the dog, he was surprised to learn the dog had beautiful pure white fur.
Raman decided to name the pup Snowy after his beautiful coat of fur.
For the first few days at Raman’s house, Snowy struggled. The dog wasn’t used to being in a house, and he was terrified of everything. He also worried that Raman would send him back to live on the streets.
“When I would take him for walks, he was constantly terrified that I was going to leave him back on the streets, so he would yank his leash away from me and run back into the parking lot of our building complex,” Raman said. “This happened for a while until he realized we were not going to let him go anywhere fast.”
After two months in Raman’s house, Snowy finally relaxed. He realized his human loved him and wasn’t going to leave him.
Snowy is now the happiest dog—he loves hanging out with other dogs in his neighborhood, and he also enjoys giving his dad hugs. This dog has a great life!
