Dogs have got to be the most wonderful pets. These canine companions come in different colors and sizes but the effect is the same. A dog is the definition of unconditional love.
Dog owners know all the joys of owning one. And yet losing a dog is rarely discussed. Perhaps for the fact that it hurts that much.
In this clip, the elderly man on the park bench just lost his dog. The poor guy looks out of it, and who can blame him?
They weren’t joking when they labeled dogs as a man’s best friend.
The guy filming owns that handsome Rottweiler on the grass. This huge pup is just enjoying his day out with his human but you can see the elderly gentleman and another person on a bench looking fondly at Nato the dog.
He greets the man on the bench and asks if he wants to pet Nato to which the seated man gladly says “yes” to the offer.
Any person who asks me if I want to pet their dog automatically gets a yes from me too.
So Nato’s owner tells his dog to go say hello to the man on the bench. Nato looks at his human, then gets up and walks over to the lonely gentleman on the park bench.
What a smart dog!
Rottweilers have this intense, intimidating look to them. They were originally bred to drive cattle to the market then later on served as police and military dogs. This is a really brave and intelligent breed.

Nato’s human knows how to handle his Rottie.
And as Nato approaches the gentleman, he immediately bows his head and turns his back to the man, allowing the stranger to pet him. Now that takes a huge amount of trust!
Nato sits and basks in the man’s affection, a look of satisfaction on his broad face.
A light conversation between both men has Nato perk up as if wondering if they’re talking about him. Yes, they are! He’s such a good boy!
“He is so cozy!”
Says the elderly man.
Nato’s face is one every dog owner knows and loves.
The man may have been lonely and grieving a few moments ago, but Nato’s presence just made everything better. That’s magic only dogs can do.
Nato’s owner is such a great guy for allowing the man to pet his dog too!
There may be five stages of grief but I suspect Nato’s made the man skip the “anger, bargaining, depression” parts. Nato even moves back towards the man, almost leaning on his leg for more affection.
A friendship was made on that park bench, and it only took two dogs. One who passed, and one who came to comfort.
