Cat buried in blankets demands respect
Nugget made it clear years ago that he was not to be disturbed while napping is his blanket. Legend has it that he's still in there, fast asleep.

Nugget doesn’t ask for a lot. Or else maybe he does seeing as how he gets his way pretty easily.

And for anyone who has ever owned a cat, we know sometimes it’s just easier to give in and back away.

Especially when they look at you like this:

Cozy Nugget

All we know about Nugget is that he lives in Lorain County, Ohio – and that he really loves his owner.

In fact, the only other video of the cat shows some serious feline affection in the form of 35 seconds of head nuzzles with his person.

Of course, even when you love someone, you can be cranky with them – especially when they do something to disrupt your comfort. And as a cat, that’s pretty much the most important thing in life next to food and barfing on your owner’s favorite stuff.

Nevertheless, we’re grateful to have confirmation that Nugget and his human are so close that the cat can make his feelings known – without judgment – and all can easily be forgiven.

If you want to know how appropriately spoiled Nugget is, just take a look at how cozy this kitty looks all wrapped up inside a fleece blanket:

Nugget, disturbed

We all know better than to displease a cat in this situation. But sometimes they’re just so cute that you can’t help but want to pet them. Or, in some cases, you might actually need the blanket back.

Sadly, once a cat has claimed it, it no longer belongs to you, and that what Nugget’s owner found that out when they went to bravely move the cat.

Even reaching a hand in a cat’s general direction at this point is pretty ballsy.

Luckily, Nugget can make his feelings known without the use of claws and teeth – at least in this case.

As his owner peels back the blanket, Nugget uses his words to express his displeasure.

It’s not a nice word, in case you were wondering.

Lessons were learned

“Hello,” his owner said. “Whatcha doin’? What are ya doing in there?”

They ever call him a “good boy” to try to get on his good side before lifting the covers.

It did not work.

There was only one thing left for Nugget’s owner to say: “Sorry.”

And then they gently replaced the blanket and tucked Nugget back into his cozy cave.

So that was a big old nope from the grumpy cat.

Viral fame

Many people found the scene hilarious and it has been viewed over 5 million times since it was uploaded in October of 2015.

“Cat says no, human says sorry and leaves. That’s respect,” joked a YouTube viewer.

Most people could relate to the cat quite closely.

“When you’ve finally found the perfect comfortable position and don’t want anything or anyone to interfere with your relaxation,” one reminisced about cozier times.

In fact, the Great Legend of Nugget now comes with a limerick for storytelling purposes, thanks to a commenter:

There once was a Cat in a Pile
Content, with Nary a Smile
When Blanket was Moved
Said he ‘Nah’ with a Mew
And went Back to his Nap for a While

Since the video is 5 years old, many wondered what has become of Nugget:

“I wonder how this cat’s doing now.”

And his owner was kind enough to write back with an update for everyone in early December of 2020:

“he’s sleeping”

We would expect no less from Nugget, who clearly enjoys his sleep and the comfort he so rightly deserves.
