This is one fight Rocky may not win.
He’s a tough little dog, willing to stand up for his humans and protect them from any threat he sees. At least threats he’s familiar with. His protective instincts were put to the test. His foe? A mechanical penguin. You get the feeling that Rocky’s owners would have gotten a real penguin if they could.
The penguin is the kind of toy that makes funny noises while spinning on its base. It emits a cartoonish laugh while playing a funny tune which probably attracted the Dachshund. You can see Rocky’s curious face when he approaches the toy.
He stares at the spinning penguin for a few seconds, listening to the tune its making, before he gives a startled reaction eventually running around the place. When in doubt, run it out! Go, Rocky!

Rocky’s got tons of adrenaline. The little guy was so eager to please his humans but he never expected his enemy to be so unpredictable. Give him some credit though. He doesn’t exactly run away, he just goes to his humans and back. Mission report!
Dachshunds are naturally curious and energetic. They were originally bred to be scent hound dogs used to hunt badgers and lots of other tunneling creatures. That explains the long, low slung body and short legs. Perfect for small crawling spaces.
We’re guessing the original breeders forgot to take in to account penguins.
Don’t let their legendary comical looks fool you. These Dachshunds are tough enough to take on badgers. Where do you think they got that name from? Dach means badger and hund is dog. Badgers are seriously tough. These little mammals are carnivores armed with long, curved front claws, with strong jaws and sharp teeth that can rip any animal apart. There are videos of these animals fighting back against bigger carnivores and prey.
Dachshunds are known by many names. Names that don’t really sound tough. Sausage dog, weiner dog, and other hilarious monikers meant to make fun of these cute doggos. They make for great family dogs, willing to be companions with their lively dispositions and appearances.

He holds his head high as he carries his elongated body with a strong, muscular stance. Almost as if he’s trying to intimidate the mechanical penguin. He holds his chest out showing the penguin that he has the heart to take him on. Rocky can’t seem to process in his little mind what this weird looking thing in front of him is.
Has Rocky finally met his match?
“Legend has it that the dog is still panicking and running around.”
That’s according to another one of Rocky’s online admirers. Maybe Rocky needs more training. Someone psych him up!
Rocky’s super quick feet is a standard feature on all Dachshunds. That penguin sure can spin but can it take off like Rocky? I think not! Can the penguin change directions in a heartbeat like Rocky? Not even close.
This is how Rocky plays mind games with his enemies. He will do something out of the ordinary to throw the competition off before he proceeds to go in for the kill. That’s a hound’s instinct right there! Right, Rocky?
