The coronavirus pandemic has had some interesting effects on many people who have been sheltering at home for a while now! Apart from the endless Zoom calls, there are aspects of our day-to-day lives that have changed. Some of these effects are truly bad. No social interaction, places closed, and unemployment skyrocketing, to name a few. Thankfully, there are some things that we can look to that are positive in a time like this.

We wouldn’t be surprised if a ton of new books get released as we near the end of all this mess! People, when locked inside, seem to be able to express their creative side a bit more. Jake and Jessica Lambert, two pet owners, went all out with their creativity for their cat!

Richard Parker is a cat that recently had a foot injury.

More than a 450-pound tiger from the book Life of Pi, Richard Parker is the Lambert family cat! Jake is a stand-up comedian and his wife, Jessica, is a veterinary nurse. Their cat is stuck in the house from a foot injury that needed surgery.

Wanting to help their cat pass the time, the couple got to work on a special project.

Jessica had the idea because she was upset that Richard couldn’t go outside to see his other cat friends.

“It was my girlfriend Jess’ idea. Our cat Richard Parker hurt his foot so he couldn’t go outside and as we couldn’t because of lockdown, we thought how maybe he’s missing his cat friends, so we made a gallery so he could look at other cats,” Jake told Bored Panda.

With a plan in place, the couple got to work.

They were going to create an art gallery for Richard to see some familiar faces! Even more, they made the entire gallery “cat-sized”! They were going to have an art snob cat after all the hours Richard would spend browsing.

It didn’t take too long to make. After a little while, the entire gallery was complete.

Containing 11 paintings, Richard had quite the selection to choose from.

“It took about an hour to make, and he’s spent hours enjoying it.”

Much like a human, Richard spends hours perusing the works of the greats that came before.

The gallery has some famous works we all know.

Wanting to give their cat a well-rounded education, they included quite a few artists for variety! The gallery contained artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, and Claude Monet. None of them are exactly original, however. Each piece has its own twist and contains cats in each one.

The smallest details were taken care of.

One of the best parts about the whole thing is the care taken for each aspect of an art museum! They built rope stanchions in front of each piece as well as including “no photo” and “no food and drink” signs.

Even with one eye, Richard could appreciate the art!

Like many rescue pets, Richard had a rough start to life. That didn’t stop him from enjoying the paintings, however!

“Richard Parker is very sociable and affectionate. He loves to play and always comes and greets us at the front door when we come home. He sleeps on our bed with us and hangs out with us all day. He’s a very cool cat and we’re very lucky. The paintings we used were by Fat Cat Art. Richard Parker has one eye as someone shot him when he was 6 months old (he’s now 3.) We never found out who shot him. But he’s super resilient.”
