What would you do if you heard screams coming from a neighbor’s home? The right answer is, of course, to call the cops. Someone might be in danger, and you could be saving a life by dialing 911 and getting in contact with the authorities.

That’s exactly what one Florida family did when they heard what seemed to be cries of “Let me out!” coming from their neighbor’s home.

They panicked and feared the worst, so called the police and asked them to investigate, but this story had a surprise ending in store for everyone.

The neighbor in question was working on his car outside on his driveway when the cops showed up, and a security camera captured the whole scene as they approached and inquired about the screams coming from inside his house.

To the cops’ surprise, the man simply laughed at their arrival and calmly said he’ll “bring out the screamer to you”.

He then goes back into his home and returns, moments later, with a little green parrot perched on his arm! It turned out that the parrot had learned to say phrases like “Let me out!” and often yelled and screamed when seeking attention.

The man also revealed that he’d had the bird, a yellow-naped Amazon parrot named Rambo, since he was a child.

They’d known each other for 40 years, and in that time, the man had gotten used to his funny bird’s way of talking, but forgot how easily some of its favorite phrases might frighten others.

He said he taught Rambo how to scream “Let me out” when he was a kid to play a prank on his parents, but it ended up backfiring on him all those years later.

Amazon parrots have an amazing ability to pick up speech from the people around them, imitating their owners and repeating words and phrases with astonishing clarity.

They can basically talk just like people, even though they often don’t understand the significance of the words they’re saying or noises they’re making.

They have incredible memories too, so they tend to remember the same words and sounds for many years, as proven by little Rambo here, who has been reciting the same old phrase for around four decades already.

The story about this cheeky parrot quickly went viral and caught the attention of a local news team.

In an interview with them, the parrot owner explained that he had been over to his neighbors’ home since the cops were called and introduced them to Rambo to calm their concerns.

The neighbors definitely did the right thing in the first place by calling 911, but it’s great to see that this story which started off in such a scary way was able to have a happy and amusing ending. Let’s just hope Rambo doesn’t get his owner in any more trouble in future!
