Chicken Raised For Meat Gets Adopted And Acts Like A Dog
This is one of the most heartwarming animal stories I've ever seen. <3 Especially how he waits for his new owner in the bathroom. :)

Did you know chickens are very smart?

According to research, chickens have profound memory and can even recognize people. So it wouldn’t be surprising to know that even chickens are capable of building relationships with humans.

Unfortunately, when you hear the word chicken, you think of a meal.

A roo’s sad life

A few months ago, a very special rooster was featured by GeoBeats Animals on YouTube. His story went viral after gaining more than a million views.

It’s a story of a rescued rooster who is now living the best life!

Boo Bowman, a Cornish cross rooster, was adopted on October 30, 2017, which makes him 3.5 years old.

Boo’s story started on a poultry farm, where he was kept, along with thousands of other chickens. The Cornish cross rooster is a breed that is commonly known as “broilers,” in the poultry industry.

Given the name, you may already have an idea what happens to chickens like him.

The broiler chickens don’t have an idea what it means to be loved. They only existed to fill themselves with feeds until they pass the required market weight before they were slaughtered.

In just six weeks old, most of these chickens were already ready to be “harvested” for their meat.

Mary Bowman saw a post from a Facebook group named “Vegans with Chickens,” where one member saw an ad from a man who wanted to dispose of his “mutant” chicken.

A few months before, Mary had lost her beloved rooster, Julian, whom she loved and cared for dearly. The rooster from the ad looked exactly like Julian, so Mary decided to rescue the rooster.

A new home for Boo

The first time Mary saw Boo, she was shocked! At only six months of age, the poor rooster already weighed 6.8 kg!

Mary named the rooster Boo because she adopted him the day before Halloween.

At first, it wasn’t easy taking care of Boo because he had already suffered from extreme obesity, and he also had cyanosis.

Boo was also terrified of humans. After all, Boo had lived all his life on a farm where chickens were treated as commodities.

It took a few weeks before Boo felt easy with his new family.

Mary and her husband did their best to show Boo that he was finally home. Slowly, the once terrified rooster felt happy and loved.

Boo’s human mom decided to let Boo live indoors, so that means he has to wear diapers – stylish ones, of course!

Aside from a comfortable home, Boo was put on a healthy diet. He also loves to snack on veggies and fruits.

Boo showed drastic improvement!

However, just about a year later, Mary noticed that her already happy roo was lethargic again. Then she also noticed that his comb turned purple again!

Alarmed, she called for their trusted vet, Dr. Katherine Baine, who asked for more tests. The doctors found that Boo has an enlarged heart. He was then diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and atrial fibrillation.

This required Boo to have several medications and follow-ups.

The good news is that Boo’s loving parents are taking care of him, and he is continuing to show improvement until today.

Boo, the happy roo

Boo is no longer afraid of people. In fact, he loves car rides, walks in his stroller, and even road trips!

When it comes to adventures, be sure to count Boo in!

Boo was able to find his passion as well. He loves playing the guitar and his keyboard. When he’s in the mood, he would even play his original composition for you!

This happy roo also loves staying updated with the latest trends. He even has his own Instagram account and will answer some e-mails too.

Mary even showed Boo typing a letter to his friend.

Of course, Mary’s husband and Boo also share quality time together. They play video games, watch movies and eat cashews together!

This happy roo is living the life!

He may still face occasional setbacks, but who doesn’t?

We can definitely learn something from Mr. Boo. Life is beautiful, and we need to enjoy it and live it to the fullest.

Oh! Wait, we know you’re curious about Boo’s diapers, right? Mary said she bought them here. If you have your own pet chicken, you might want to check this out as well.
