There are millions of cat videos on the internet. Is that too many cat videos? Not if you’re a animal/cat lover.
So we’re adding to the internet cat video phenomenon with the one below!
In a short 47-second video, Instagram user MimoTheKitten filmed their cat Mimo encountering a mirror. And Mimo’s reaction is priceless, to say the least.
First, Mimo spots his ears in the mirror. Ever the curious kitty, he steps on his hind legs, only to have a shock of one of his nine lives.
There are many diverse reactions animals can have when they see themselves in the mirror. Some freak out, others try to fight or intimidate their reflections, and some simply don’t care.
As one Facebook user put it:
Miko stood out as not only being fascinated by his reflection, but also becoming self-aware of his own features!
Miko’s owner captioned the video, “My cat just found his ears…”
Despite having ears all of his life, seeing it in a reflection made Miko touch his ears as though he had never seen them before.
Cat ears are unique in that they are very sensitive to sound. Cats possess a range of hearing that goes above and below the range of frequencies that humans can detect. Cats can hear better than people, and interestingly enough, even better than most dogs.
Miko’s adorable reaction quickly made waves on the internet. With the video re-uploaded to Facebook, the cat clip has received over 9.8 million views and tens of thousands of comments:
